Obama Adminstration Opposes Prayer Plaque at WWII Memorial - It Would "Dilute Message"

Republican lawmakers and conservative activists are expressing outrage after the Obama administration announced its objection to adding President Franklin Roosevelt’s D-Day prayer to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. The objection was noted during a congressional hearing on Rep. Bill Johnson’s (R-OH) bill – the “World War II Memorial Prayer Act of 2011.”

"It is unconscionable that the Obama administration would stand in the way of honoring our nation’s distinguished World War II veterans,” Johnson said. “President Roosevelt’s prayer gave solace, comfort and strength to our nation and our brave warriors as we fought against tyranny and oppression.”

Roosevelt asked the nation to join him in prayer as U.S. and allied troops launched the invasion that led to the defeat of Nazi Germany. He asked God to give the allied troops courage and faith, saying, “With thy blessing we shall prevail over the unholy forces of our enemy.”

But Robert Abbey, the director of the Bureau of Land Management, said any plaque or inscription of the prayer would “dilute” the memorial’s central message and therefore “should not be altered.”

Thank you for posting that prayer in its entirety.

Though I am not a big fan of FDR, The prayer is beautiful, inclusive of all Americans, and appropriate for the Monument.

I know I shouldn’t say it but...

I am sick of what they are getting away with. I am sick of the Queer MSM, with there homer simpson like memory. I am happy that I don’t have the event of meeting any of them ever. “Event” means it would be an event if I ever ran across some of these absolute PUNKS and WHORES that work in the QMSM.

I am sick and tired of hearing influential people say to keep things cool and calm.

I am not saying I am rising up now or anything but for people to say there is never a good result from uprisings, I just don’t know about that.

All I know (apparently) is that some people are hard learners and the liberals, progressives, socialists and communists in the country, will probably have to have their senses beaten back into them, at best.

Oops, the other thing I know is that if it ever does go down, they lose, PERIOD!

It will be on like Donkey Kong! lol

There are other incidents of censoring out references to God in the WWII Memorial - deleted reference to the Deity from an FDR quote. People need to get a hint - this Nation was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, not atheistic ones. The prayer should go in.

Who is this jerk? He has the ability to diminish the Judeo-Christian foundation of the nation and the Armed Forces?

Someone should drag his a** to the chapel at West Point and let him read the Cadet's Prayer on the wall. Then let him say we are “diluting” the significance of our memorials. F-ing loser.

Yet another career liberal with plenty of government employment and (of course) no military service. It will be good to see this guy replaced. I’m not sure to what extent the BLM can be eliminated (along with the obvious candidates like the endowment for the arts, etc.) but this agency seems like a great candidate for reduction.

My fellow Americans: Last night, when I spoke with you about the fall of Rome, I knew at that moment that troops of the United States and our allies were crossing the Channel in another and greater operation. It has come to pass with success thus far.

And so, in this poignant hour, I ask you to join with me in prayer:

Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.

Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.

They will need Thy blessings. Their road will be long and hard. For the enemy is strong. He may hurl back our forces. Success may not come with rushing speed, but we shall return again and again; and we know that by Thy grace, and by the righteousness of our cause, our sons will triumph.
