For sure, "The Exorcist" is on the list. Also, "Rosemary's Baby", one of the all time scariest movies ever.
I suppose if I really wanted to get scared, I could cue up a bunch of Progressive Commercials with that Flo dame. She is definitely related to the folks in "Night of the Living Dead"
Blair Witch Project? (That movie is scary, but they really didn't have any good reason to go down the profanity route so much...) Thumbs DOWN!!
I'm all ears!!
There were actually other very good actors in that movie...not including Keanu and Winona who stunk the joint up.
For those of you who know who H.P. Lovecraft is, this is the best homage to his work. None of it is off a direct story, but it is a well made scary movie that uses a lot of Lovecraftian elements. Oh, and if any body asks you if you like Sutter Kane, the answer is YES!
I also like Van Helsing even though its not really scary.
Evil Dead and the original Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark
One of the best scary movies ever....and you *never* see what “it” is that’s freaking you out.
That’s just seriously good film making.
The movie was based on Shirley Jackson’s “The Haunting of Hill House”.
That woman could write creepy!
Here’s her “The Lottery” short story.

Some messed up stuff.
:)
I would easily rate Lovecraft and Virginia Wolfe as the scariest authors in the history of the English language.
And even though no one would consider him a “classic” author, Steven King had some pretty chilling stuff...
I also recommend “Arsenic and Old Lace”. Best Halloween movie ever!

The Fall of the House of Usher

Now I won’t be able to sleep tonight.
Trick ‘r Treat is enjoyable little movie. I got it on blu ray for 8 bucks a year ago.
Abbott and Costello meet the invisable man and frankenstien. Better than ghostbusters
I love “Jeepers Creepers”
and the original “Halloween.”
Saw that, hoping for greatness. It was...insofar as movie technology & technique lacked about a century between production and my viewing. A great film for its time, but time has moved on.
Best Horror Movies of the last five years (IMO):
5. Slither
4. Let me in
3. The Rite
3. The Mist
1. Drag Me To Hell
Masque of the Red Death is the best of those (IMO)
Best Price horror movie overall? Witchfinder General (aka The Conqueror Worm).
Yeah, seeing Nicole Kidman that thin and that white sure spooked me!
