Herman Cain's campaign paid his company to buy his books [zot]
CBS News ^ | Oct 18, 2011 | Lindsey Boerma

Herman Cain's case against pundits who claim he's running a book tour rather than a presidential campaign just got a bit more complicated.

Federal Election Commission records show that the former Godfather's Pizza executive paid more than $64,000 of his presidential campaign funds to his motivational speaking company, T.H.E. New Voice Inc., for copies of his own books, and for lodging, airfare, and resources, Bloomberg News reports.

Previous rulings by the FEC have allowed candidates to use their campaign funds to buy their own books, as long as the purchase is at market value and the money goes to charity rather than to personal profit. But Bill Allison, editorial director at the Washington, D.C.-based Sunlight Foundation, told Bloomberg that Cain's case should raise some eyebrows.

"All candidates publish books and they offer them as a premiums to donors, but most candidates aren't buying them from their own companies," Allison said. "It raises the question of his campaign contributions ending up in his own pocket."

And the supporters have yet to square his outright lie about Gore.

The bottom line there is that Gore was a rabid eco long before Perry supported him as any who care to google his early 80s rants can see. But Perry claimed he was not “Mr. Global Warming” until later.

BS. He has been nuts for years. No the problem. Perry knew that. Anyone remotely familiar with Gore from back then knows all about it. And Perry had to know how simple it is to discover for those who do not.

Yet he lied anyway KNOWING people would discover it.

That speaks to a mindset I want nothing to do with in a leader.

And the same applies to his Guardasil fiasco. It took the legislature to stop him and he went off on them for it. The man is NOT interested in what those he governs think or want.

Add the illegal alien love he displays and we have a poor example of a leader. The people of Texas have been scammed for 11 years.

What’s the matter? Too much truth in that picture for you?

“The thing about Cain’s 999, with no payroll taxes, where does it put SS and Medicare?”

He already clarified.

1. no taxing of SS. it’s already been taxed
2. no income tax for the impoverished

done.

Point, he has explained nothing as to what people want to know.

With no payroll tax, what happens to SS and Medicare which are now funded with payroll taxes. If no SS or Medicare as now known, what will replace them?

Current SS payments to retirees are based upon how much the individual has paid in. With no one paying in, how will payments, if any, to elderly then be made? How much, if any?

I am happy on this Zot. I quit participating in the election threads because of posters like Clarity. I might be mistaken, however I believe Clarity was also the worst PDS offender.

It seems like there is a group here purposely deconstructing the conservative candidates. The worst were the flood of posters after Perry made his announcement. I will hold my nose if it comes down to him, but his supporters are making that even a tenuous proposition.

He is and shall remain Senor Gardasil to me. I suppose I "have no heart." This was the behavior of an intemperate elitist and not a representative of the people.

Art Laffer did the math and said that Cain’s plan would generate what we’re getting now... more after the economy took off.

The funding of SS and Medicaid has been disingenuous for a long time. It was supposed to belong to *that* person - a separate account.

Well, the democrats blew the lid off that a long time ago.

For years now, the money has been coming out of the general fund.

Cain just stops the subterfuge.

But I trust Art Laffer. If he says that it’ll generate enough money to meet all of our obligations, then it is so.

I ignored the picture, since it was just chaff you tossed up to avoid dealing with my previous post (you know, the one where you essentially admitted trashing Perry’s book from a position of ignorance).

Yeah. I try to forget. There was serious post-traumatic stress syndrome after that episode. That was one train running off the tracks that I could not look at. I did not forget. I put it in a place where we just whisper about it.

I didn't avoid a thing. If the books mirror Perry's idiotic policies, they're trash. Period.

Some of you Texans are odd ducks.
