'I am really scared': Family lost in corn maze calls 911 for help

A Massachusetts family got the Halloween scare of a lifetime by getting lost inside a dark and creepy Salem-area corn maze and had to call 911 for rescue.

Danvers police say they got a call of distress from a mother of two about 6:32 p.m. Monday. The woman alerted the 911 operator of their situation in the Connors Farm in Danvers, a short distance from Salem...

He said a Danvers police with a tracking dog quickly plunged into the depths of the maze with a farm manager to search for the disoriented dad, mom and two young kids.

Within a minute or so upon arrival, the police officer located the family. The family didn't realize they had almost made their way out; they were just 25 feet from the street, Connors said.

Sounds like a couple of mistakes were made.

-Next time don't the baby

-Don't forget the bug lotion/spray

-Wear appropriate clothing.

-Don't go at twilight

I will bet they broke all four of these rules.

And Oh, BTW, anyone who thinks they can "just walk out" has never tried to walk through 6-7 foot tall corn stalks. Those leaves will rip and tear anything that isn't strong cotton or canvas... Skin included!

You've mistaken a corn maze with a corn "haze".

Whatever you do, don't get either of them confused with a corn hole.

Give them a break. Maybe it was time for the dog’s evening walk anyway, as good a place as any. Or maybe the dog came along for fun, like when people take their dog to the grocery store, because the dog likes to ride in the car. Or maybe they were smelling the “fear”.

You idiot lib you are SUPPOSE to get lost. That is the purpose of the corn MAZES, that are in high gear this time of year. I have done our local corn maze with my exchange students and or my kids almost every year for the past 10 years. We wait until dark to make it all the more adventurous. I will be going next weekend with 12 exchange students along with one or two of their host family members.

Little dogs need to stay on the porch. Perhaps you should just stick to the pumpkins patch and the hay ride until you grow up.

Yeah I was running around in cornfields as far back as I can remember.

These days I wanted the state land near my home and still get turned around sometimes but I always make it back to my truck.

OK...whatever. I just figured it out. YOU were the guy in the maze, weren’t you? You need to suspend your wife’s cell phone priveleges.

Well, yes, in some cases it’s news (this is a case where they shouldn’t have used it, they could have just walked thru the corn). But I’m a little disturbed to think that if I call them because my husband (for instance) is having a heart attack that is somehow public info. I don’t know, that just seems like a private moment to me.

Pro Tip: Hold out one arm and touch a wall (or corn). Follow the wall.

My Brother and I were once called to go out and find a deer hunter who was lost near a tiny town near here. We found him..there was snow on the ground, and we could hear the chickens in the town from where we found him. Not only that, we could hear the cars going by on the highway.

Unreal. My brother really lit into him.
