Watched it, what an exciting game. Go Cardinals. Carpenter pitched the whole game — he is the man.

I thought the Cardinals simply outplayed Philly is this series. The right team won.

See, even a ton of money can not buy a World Series win.
Howard seemed to injure his leg when he went to run to 1st, but it would not have mattered if he could run as it was hit to 1st.
So sad!

Are they headed straight to Milwaukee or are they stopping over in St. Louis?

I walked back into the room and LaRussa was in an dugout interview and said to the interviewer something was “nonsense”. Then turned his back and walked away. Does anybody know what this was about?

I’m not a Cards fan, but I’m most definitely NOT a Phillies fan. Glad to see (hear, actually) the Cards do it. They worked hard and played some great ball.

Props to the Cards for an amazing run the last month. 23 out of 30 I think.

I guess that eight-game losing streak for the Phils near the end of the season was a harbinger of things to come.

So will Milwaukee get revenge for 1982 against the Cards?

I had no stake in this series and really didn't care who won, but I gotta say I'm really surprised the Phillies could ever lose a series with a starting rotation like that.
Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels and Roy Oswalt made up the best 1-4 rotation I've seen since the Braves of the 1990s. They were so good that Vance Worley, who went 11-3 and is a serious contender for the National League Rookie of the Year award, was relegated to the bullpen for this series.
When you don't score any runs it's hard to win no matter how good your pitchers are.

A disaster for TV - goodbye East Coast markets. Now the World Series will just be Midwest and West Coast teams.
