Divine Appointments
October 26, 2011

Have you ever been stuck in an airport? For 24 hours? In a city where you can’t speak the language? Four thousand miles from home?

It happened to a friend recently, and we can learn from his response. While most of us would find such an inconvenience intolerable, my friend John saw God’s hand in his delay. As he waited out his forced stay, he looked for opportunities to connect with fellow passengers. He “happened” to find some fellow Christians from India—and in talking to them he heard about a ministry they were involved with. In fact, because John’s interests matched his new friends’ ministry, they invited him to India to participate in a short-term project.

How often do we experience delays, changes of plans, and redirections and treat them as intrusions? It could be that God is detouring us so we can do something different or new for Him. Consider Paul’s trip to Philippi in Acts 16. He had gone to Macedonia because of a God-directed vision (vv.9-10). How could he know that he would end up in prison there? But even that trip to jail was God-led, because He used Paul to bring salvation to a jailer and his family (vv.25-34).

God can use inconveniences in our lives if we look at them as divine appointments.

“Disappointment—His appointment,”
Change one letter, then I see
That the thwarting of my purpose
Is God’s better choice for me. —Young

God can turn obstacles into opportunities.

Read: Acts 16:9-31

Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. —Acts 16:25
Bible in a year:
Jeremiah 9-11; 1 Timothy 6

Ever wonder how many opportunities we miss or squander through our dullness in the moment or lack of being alert to the lost?

We do God's work. Let us reach a high mark with it.

Good morning, Teenie.

Thank you for sharing the WF monkey and his WF pet. ;-}

It is cold this morning! Only 52 degrees at 10:00. I had to don WF slippers this morning.

Wishing you a beautiful WF Wednesday!

Thanks for your feedback. For anyone interested here are tips on getting this helpful test done:

http://meridianvalleylab.com/food-allergy-testing/extended-foods-a-panel/

Go to Meridian Valley Lab website. Call them and order the Food Allergy “Combo Test” for $257. This test combines the basic and extended food lists and tests for nearly 200 foods.

Once the kit arrives from Meridian, you need a place that will draw your blood locally. If you have a blood drawing place near you, see if they will do it, if your own doctor’s blood lab won’t.

Whatever blood lab you use, will follow the directions in the test kit and prepare the blood (spin out the plasma). The kit has a pre-paid return box for overnight return delivery. Have the blood draw on a Monday or Tuesday to insure the return package gets to Washington state well before a weekend.

Other health info:

I learned about good and bad fats this summer. I threw out my canola oil, it has bad fat content. My sister-in-law gave me a book about coconut oil this summer. It is good for us just like Rush has said all these years. The Canola Industry put out false info on coconut oil years ago. I use olive oil and coconut oil only. ( I am allergic to butter).

Coconut oil is not really “oily”. It comes in a mason jar and is a lovely white color and does not need refrigeration. It is a soft solid at room temps just like butter. I use almost a jar a week for saute-ing and baking. I eat a spoonful of it everyday if I have not cooked with it that day. It melts clear and easy much like butter does only it won’t burn like butter when you fry. I prefer it to olive oil. It has a light taste that compliments everything I make with it. I love to saute with it, and it is my butter substitute for baking.

Here are webpages about coconut oil, and good and bad fats.

We need good fats to make healthy cell walls. Eating good nutritious food is wonderful for feeding our bodies, but we also need good fats for strong cell walls.

Don’t get me started...I’ve learned a lot this year. LOL.

PS-also recommend any book by Suzanne Sommers. “Sexy Forever” is one of them. Comprehensive books on good food, getting rid of toxins in our lives, food sensitivities, etc. Her books offer a ton of info and many good labs listed in the back, including the lab that saved my life.

As Summer into Autumn Slips
by Emily Dickinson

As Summer into Autumn slips
And yet we sooner say
"The Summer" than "the Autumn," lest
We turn the sun away,

And almost count it an Affront
The presence to concede
Of one however lovely, not
The one that we have loved --

So we evade the charge of Years
On one attempting shy
The Circumvention of the Shaf
Of Life's Declivity

Two blondes were sipping their Starbucks when a truck went past loaded up with rolls of sod.

"I'm going to do that when I win the lottery," announced Blonde #1.

"Do what?" asked Blonde #2.

"Send my lawn out to be mowed."
