If they don’t give a rip about the rule of law, then why would R’s be any better than Obama? Power corrupts. If they flip the bird at we the people and the rule of law in order to get in power, it’s only a matter of time before they become an Obama anyway. Same old, same old. I’m sick of it.

If those are the only options, forget it; we’re beyond hope. The whole process will have lost me from their hopeless waste of time. I have a life to live and I’m not going to waste it worrying about whether it’s green versus brown crap that I and my children get shoved down our throats.

If your only response to my care for the rule of law is that I’m a “nut” and my lost vote is no big deal, then be prepared to live with the consequences. I’m just telling y’all in advance so you know whether or not you really want to play this game of chicken.

If we end up with a republican candidate who is NOT a NBC then I would have to not vote for them as well. If that becomes the case it would almost seem to be an intentional mockery of the Constitution.

Clearly from Article 2, Section 1, Clause 5 of the Constitution, which states:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.

At the time of the adoption of this Constitution, there were two classes of citizenship referenced by the Founders.

“Natural born Citizen”

and

“Citizen of the United States”

The “natural born Citizen” was eligible to the office of the President, without any additional provisions.

The “Citizen of the United States” was eligible to the office of the President, provided that such a person was a “Citizen of the United States” at the adoption of the Constitution.

From Justice Marshall’s opinion in Marbury vs Madison:

It cannot be presumed that any clause in the constitution is intended to be without effect; and therefore such a construction is inadmissible, unless the words require it.

Therefore, any argument that “natural born Citizen” and “Citizen of the United States” means the same thing or can be used interchangeably would be inadmissible.

Who was a “Citizen of the United States” at the time of the adoption of the Constitution?

Persons either born abroad or in America, who as subjects of Great Britain, swore allegiance to the Constitution.

Who was a “natural born Citizen” at the time of the adoption of the Constitution?

Persons born in America to parents who had become “Citizens of the United States” by swearing allegiance to the Constitution.

Oh goodness gracious. Who do you respect as far as informing you on Constitutional issues? (asking about your guru was just a simpler way to put it). For the record I don’t even listen to Levin, except on occasion when he’s on Foxnews. Was your post just your way of telling me you don’t have anyone you can mention who informs you on the Constitution?

Marco Rubio isn’t our only choice for president. Why do you say we’d rather have four more years of Obama?

If someone gets away with murder does that mean murder is now legal?

SCOTUS can take up anything they want, whether or not the person has “standing”. The deciding factor in their decision is SUPPOSED to be whether the issue is significant enough to justify their time deciding the case.

IOW, SCOTUS has been saying this whole time that it doesn’t matter. None of this matters.

I say if the Constitution doesn’t matter then let’s just get rid of SCOTUS already. If it doesn’t matter who gets in the White House let’s just decide it by rolling dice. If none of this matters screw it all.

Based on what? That standard means any anchor baby can be prez. That may be the current standard but I doubt seriously that is what the founding fathers had in mind by referring to Natural Born Citizen.

Nothing Levin nor any of the Vattel people says makes any difference to me. What matters is what SCOTUS rules. And they refuse.

SCOTUS doesn’t care whether our military officers can keep their oaths with a clean conscience and they don’t care whether any of us voters can pull the lever with a clean conscience either.

If I can’t pull it with a clean conscience, then I’m not gonna pull it at all. Plain and simple. If you don’t like that, I suggest you talk to SCOTUS and suggest that they do their job.

Yeah, the standard has been set....that is what King George used to say, shut up and take it like good little slaves.

You want to do that, fine, enjoy, others are not so subservient.

Rush was discussing health care yesterday, and he said that the SCOTUS is political, even though people say it’s not. I think it’s political too, and they wouldn’t take up this issue.

I know it’s not a cut and dried issue. That’s why SCOTUS is supposed to rule on it. Until they do, they are asking me to drive blind as if it doesn’t matter.

I’m not gonna do it. If somebody else wants to drive blind over a cliff I can’t stop them but I’m not gonna be the one who does it.

And a lawless Obama is no worse than a lawless anybody else. There will always be crooks and con artists running for office; the critical issue for America is whether the system upholds the law. If it doesn’t, then anybody who gets in office will soon be a crook anyway; that’s what “power corrupts” means, and we’ve seen it happen every time accountability fails.

His mother had attained US citizenship before his birth. His father had not completed the process at that point.

However, both of his parents were born during the time in which Cuba was a US protectorate, where Cuba managed it’s own internal affairs, but the US managed it’s external affairs.

Whether a US protectorate conveys US citizenship, I don’t know. Regardless, his mother was recognized as a citizen at the time of his birth.

You would have to read the post I was responding to. That person indicated they would vote for a third party over this issue.

If they don’t care about our concerns even when they are really wanting our vote, they sure as heck won’t care about our concerns after they’ve got it. There are two kinds of accountability they are thumbing their noses at: accountability to the rule of law, and accountability to the voters.

It stinks when the dems do it, and it stinks when the reps do it. I’m sick of them both. They are flip sides of the same coin.

If they are going to thumb their nose at the rule of law and at the concerns of the voters I have just one thing to say to them, and I hope and pray they are listening closely: Count. Me. Out.

They’re absolutely political, and as long as we let them get away with it there’s no reason for them to NOT be political. It’s up to us. If we accept this crap sandwich then it’s all we’re ever gonna get.
