Romney Front-Runner By Default While Cain Wins FL Straw Poll (Palin's opening)

After the FoxNews/Google debate, it had begun to crystallize in the view of many Republicans is that Rick Perry isn’t the candidate many had hoped. Capturing the straw poll in Florida on Saturday, Herman Cain reached new heights as Perry’s slide down hill has accelerated. Bachmann has peaked and begun to taper off, while Gingrich, Paul, Santorum and Huntsman continue to struggle in the middle-to-low single digits. This leaves Mitt Romney out front, not because he’s such a great candidate, but because to date, his chief opponents have grossly underperformed. This begs the question most conservatives want most to ask: Is Mitt Romney capable of carrying the conservative banner into battle a year from now? Most conservatives seem to believe the answer is a firm “no,” but it nevertheless leaves Romney in the position of the last candidate standing

“Cain wants to replace the current income tax with another one, as well as preferring to keep the alphabet soup agencies intact, albeit probably smaller and more efficient. That won’t be good enough for a lot of people. I know it certainly isn’t good for me. I want the EPA, DoE and ATF DOA ASAP. The IRS could wait a week or so. Not the few years Cain seems to be alluding to.”

K, sounds great...point me to the candidate pushin’ for it

"...whatever she will do is strictly hypothetical."

Sure. What isn't "hypothetical" is that neither Cain, nor Christy, nor Perry, nor Romney will win the nomination. Period.

Further, that Sarah has elected to save on campaign cash, energy, viewer burnout, and media ad hominem by pushing her announcement back (all the while, allowing her would-be "competition" for the nomination to destroy themselves and each other... brilliant"!!!, but then, that's our Sarah...) should not be mistaken for the slightest chance that she won't run.

She knows now whether she'll run, and has for some good time. The only reason to put off announcing is because she's going to run. If she wasn't, there is no reason not to say so now.

All it takes is a working brain, and the will to use it.

"...but she also has had several out there who regularly defend her. Herman gets attacked from every corner, from every group except (it appears) Bachmann supporters.

What a snivelling load of crap. You're nuts if you believe that. Are you Al Sharpton? C'mon, admit it...

CHRISTIE DEFENDS MUSLIM JUDGE APPOINTMENT:

“But it was a follow-up question on the fear of Sharia Law that set the governor off. “Sharia Law has nothing to do with this at all, it’s crazy!” he cried. “The guy is an American citizen!” He concluded that the “Sharia Law business is just crap… and I’m tried of dealing with the crazies,” adding with disgust and frustration that “it’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background.”

Christy is all of that and therefore no conservative.
However he has one thing going for him...he will absolutely destroy 0Bama in presidential debates. Another benefit if he
joins the race is he splits RINO votes from Mitt.

You’re spot on. Why should Palin jump in early? Let the current bunch dismember each other a bit more and then get in. She has the name recognition and doesn’t have to be a candidate to acquire it like they do.

I am assuming you are not an African-American, trying to rise
to top spots in Billion dollar corporations. If my assumption is correct, you have no idea how much stuff Cain had to put up in his life.

Cain sounds, looks and talks like an intelligent adult. I call this
man a national treasure. I am not sure if the country is wise
enough to elect this man who is the only non-politician in race.

I am quite comfortable with a Romney v Cain race.

As long as Cain wins it.

I believe that Cain, one on one v Romney would win. It would not be easily done, Romney has hundreds of millions of dollars at his disposal.

All Herman has is us and the truth.

You believe Cain is not presidential material?

Take a look at his bio. Despite very humble beginnings, he has one of the most impressive resumes I have ever seen in a presidential candidate. His entire career reflects achievement at the highest level in several fields. He worked for our military (Department of the Navy). He holds a master's degree in Computer Science and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics. He was a CEO for several companies. Chairman of a Federal Reserve Bank. An author. A talk show host. A syndicated columnist. And the list goes on and on.

Very few presidents can match Herman Cain's credentials. As for Barack Obama, he isn't worthy to shine Herman Cain's shoes.

She HAS played it perfectly despite Rove’s advice that she JUST has to get in by Labor Day. She’s letting them all exhaust their fake mojo before she pulls the trigger. Man she’s good!

I am an American, I have founded from scratch and run as CEO multiple multi-million dollar corporations with hundreds of employees on four different continents. More to the point, I know precisely what Cain has gone through here (...much, much worse, in fact) facing discrimination as it exists against white Americans in other parts of the world (Somalia, Indonesia, East Timor, Angola, etc.).

Cain is a nice guy.

He doesn't have what it takes to be president. Not even close. Period.

If he's still around when Palin jumps in, you'll see the difference, and you won't need anyone to point it out to you. There is no comparison between running a business, and dealing with legislative and governance issues.

THE WHITE HOUSE IS NOT WHRRE YOU SEND SOMEONE TO LEARN THE ROPES!!!! THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT A "BEGINNER'S" START-UP JOB.

For the love of God, get a grip.

So you are saying that the presidency is only for career bureaucrats?

I think the American people have had quite enough of career politicians - it is clear that they do not have the answers. Would a businessman like Cain run up a trillion dollar national debt? I don't think so. But I can see how career bureaucrats can do it because they don't know how to run a government efficiently. All they have to do is raise taxes to get more revenue.

It's time that we kicked out the career bureaucrats and bring in some businessmen.

“I believe that Cain is going to be moving up in future polls and may overtake Perry by months’ end. I am quite comfortable with a Romney v Cain race.”

Cain may very well overtake Perry in the polls soon, but I don’t know how anyone can say this straw poll shows Romney as the frontrunner. Why? Because he didn’t campaign for it just like he didn’t campaign for Iowa?

Whether they were active with the delegates or not, the fact is that EVERYONE who showed up at these last two Florida debates campaigned for this straw poll. And the fact that Perry tanked big time and the support didn’t gravitate toward Romney, but toward a new ‘anti-Romney’ candidate shows to me what I continue to believe-that this year’s electorate simply will NOT accept a slithering phony chameleon like Romney, who will do nothing when he gets in but protect the status quo and maybe tinker around the edges.

No, we’ve got a republic to save! And our candidate damn well better get the urgency of the situation and have the resolve to make some radical cuts to our spending and changes to our tax code. People moved toward Cain because he -more than anyone else in the race so far-appears to get the urgency and has a solid plan that he can clearly articulate to address it.

As for Perry, I like him. I’m sorry to see him tank like that. And I do think there’s still plenty of time for him to recover, but he needs to do some cramming on debate prep and depth on the issues if he’s going to stay competitive. I don’t know him well enough to know if he can. For now though-I’m happy with this result-but I don’t think it in any way shows Romney as the frontrunner.

If anything, it shows how weak he truly is-because his only strategy is hoping everyone else will fall apart or be deemed ‘unelectable’ and people will decide to ‘settle’ for him cause they want so badly to get rid of Obama. Sorry, we’ve seen this movie too many times before-Dole ‘96, McCain ‘08, etc. We’re not going to settle again on some RINO retread who thinks he’s entitled to the nomination cause it’s his ‘turn.’ There’s too much at stake this time around.

As for me, I’m giving a $25 donation to Cain for starters. I don’t have much cash to spare, but he climbed a big hill to win that straw poll and I think he’s earned it.

“and Palin, only one has been tested in a media crucible as hot as it can get and come through smiling, winning, and leading without breaking a sweat. “

Palin, the journalism major, couldn’t even outsmart Katie Couric!

Cain, who mastered in computer science, survived cancer and will destroy Obamacare just as he destroyed hillarycare.
