According to the French Revolutionary Calendar, this is the first day of the Year 220 (starting from AD 1791) - Primidi, 1 Vendemiaire, CCXX. This day is also dedicated to the grape (en Francais, RAISIN).

Any revolution that restarts the calendar from zero, such as the French Revolution or the Cambodian revolution under Pol Pot, represents a psychotic episode on the part of the revolutionaries.

We are in the year LXXXVIII of the Fascist calendar devised by Benito Mussolini. New Years Day is October 28.

Similarly, the new rage for changing “B.C.” (before Christ) to “B.C.E.” (before the common era).
