I wasn't going to bother anyone with a personal post, but I believe in the power of group prayers and I really need yours for my mother. She's 84 and has been in ICU since Friday. Two weeks ago she and my 93 year old dad both fell. He's healing and should be able to walk again before long, but my mom's frail, has been on oxygen for 10 years since her open heart surgery and has been struggling. Last week Dad called my sister and me to come up, saying she wasn't doing well. They live in the country and he's afraid if anything happened to her, he couldn't help her, so they decided to move to the nursing home in my hometown, at least for a few months until she gets stronger, so we got them settled. Four days later I got a call from the head nurse there that they were taking her downtown to get checked out at the local clinic. Doctor was on vacation all week, but the nurse practitioner said Mom had a urinary tract infection, and next thing I know, they took her by ambulance to the hospital in St. Joseph about 45 miles away. The doctor and his nurse there called each of us and asked about her having signed a DNR form at the nursing home! Her blood oxygen level was dangerously low and CO2 level too high. She also has really low blood pressure.
They've been having her wear a mask (like what people with sleep apnia wear) and she began responding better, but is still so weak and frail, and we need somehow to get her built back up. She has several IVs (two are strong antibiotics).
Anyway, my dad really needs her - she's still his sweetheart of 63 years. Thanks for your patience and if you would, please pray for her.
I really appreciate it! Linda
I will be praying for your mom and all of you, Linda.
There is nothing wrong with asking for prayers.
Freepers were so kind to me this past year when my own father was very ill. He has passed away, but the concern of fellow Freepers soothed my weary heart during that painful period.
Prayers said for both of your parents and you.
(misspelled sleep apnea)

My condolences on the recent loss of your mother.
Until I lost my father this past May I never truly understand the pain my friends had felt on the loss of their parent(s). I’ll pray for you that your pain will soon ease, and the Lord of all comfort will wrap His arms around you.
Joining you in Prayer for Your fine Family. Will ask local Church for Prayers also. Strength for you and rest of the Family. Nursed my Parents before their passing, never regretted it.

I’m so sorry for your loss - we can never really prepare for it. Thank you for your prayer during this difficult time for you.
These last two weeks have been increasingly scary. I just pray for her to get well enough to leave the hospital and be back with my dad again - he misses her so much. My sister and I’ve been taking turns going up there from KC (where we both live) to see her, but it’s hard sometimes because we can’t always go on up to get Dad to bring him down. It’s 90 miles north to where he is, then 45 miles south to take him to St. Joe, 45 miles back up north, then 90 miles south, back to KC.
