What a wonderful life we had as kids, not a worry in the world.

Thanks for the memories. We weren’t ALLOWED to be inside when it was nice out.
Our “jumbo gym” was metal and dirt. It was all connected, except for the entrance. We used to play tag on that thing, rule was you could not touch the ground, you had to climb and scramble away from who was “it”.
If you were tagged or fell to the ground, you were “it”!!!
aw!!! Thanks for posting this. It was great to see it.
Thanks, navysealdad!
You can still capture some of the simpler pleasures of life by taking your kids or grandkids camping. No electronic devices allowed. Just swimsuits, bikes, a ball to kick around or throw, some wood for a fire, and s’more fixins’.
The kids will find plenty of things to do and have a blast doing them. They’ll also be very tired by bedtime.
I remember when slip and slide was we watered down the concrete driveway and then slid all the way down! Never broke a bone and didn’t cost a dime (well, ok the water bill I never saw!)

That pic reminds me of the Davy Crockett mania and a story of entrepreneurship. It seems this dealer in war surplus had a TON of used pup tents that nobody wanted - couldn’t give the damn things away. Amid all the DC hoopla, he stenciled “Davey Crocket” [sic] on them and sold the lot out in days.
