Kelly Thomas died of brain injuries, which resulted from blunt force trauma to the head, according to medical records released by Garo Mardirossian, Ron Thomas' lawyer.
At a press conference today at his Los Angeles office, Mardirossian told reporters he thinks the medical records are "clear evidence" that "Kelly Thomas was killed, murdered by these Fullerton police officers."
Thomas suffered several broken bones in his face, according to the medical records from UC Irvine's Medical Center, where Thomas died on July 10. (PDFs of the medical reports are at the end of the post.)
Mardirossian said he thinks the locations of the fractures are especially telling of the severity of the beating. "The bone inside the nose was also broken," Mardirossian said. "Now, these don't just break easily. They take a tremendous amount of pounding."

You are welcome. However, to a few here (thankfully very few judging by the thread comments) I am "a cop hater," which is news to me.
Thirteen years on this forum, and I am still learning about people.
Look at Kelly Thomas' picture post mortem. Everyone I showed it to had the same response: "Is that a human being?"
I admit I am enraged, but still, I am somewhat astonished that I haven't heard that police stations are burning and police helicopters falling out of the sky in Fullerton. If they don't find this revolting, then they deserve to be slaughtered.
Kelly was euthanized by the cops because he was bad for business and a perceived blight on the community. It wasn’t planned, but it was in the back of the minds of the cops that did this.
I suspect that this happens a lot more than we know. We just never here about it, because nobody really cares about these people, it is perceived.
Nobody bargained on the fact that Kelly had a dad that really did care about him.
You could make an argument that Fullerton is better off without a mentally ill, disheveled, shirtless Kelly roaming the streets. The Nazi’s did.
If nothing is done about this, this will continue.
So do some on this forum.
It happens all the time:

I am much more afraid of confronting a cop than I am of any random thug I might meet.
“It is amazing how the people of California revere anybody connected to the government.”
Actually “the people of California” have a long record of opposing the government, on several issues, through the proposition procedure.
—Prop. 13, Property Tax Limitation
—Prop. 187, No government benefits for Illegal Immigrants
—Prop. 227, English Only in school
—Prop. 8, No homosexual marriage
Very few people today support the Fullerton PD, let alone “revere” them. Far from it.
If the cops are going to do this, they should do it with lethal injection or gassing. It uses less resources, is less painful (to all involved) and requires less energy. I wish the cops would come over and deal with the homeless guy who collects bottles out of my dumpster using a stolen shopping cart. </sarcasm>
As you can see, I have really thought this out.
No drugs or alcohol in system. He was a regular at the local, nearby Alcoholics Anonymous meeting club.
People there know him to be peaceful, but clearly mentally ill. Never an incedent of him being violent.
I am much more afraid of confronting a cop than I am of any random thug...”
Absolutely. I am not saying that every cop out there is bad but there is definitely an increase (IMHO) of needless tazing/beatings/shootings etc... where the police are in the wrong. My teen wants to start taking Driver’s Ed soon. Years ago, a parent may have concerns for their kid over driver inexperience, alcohol etc.. You know what concerns me? A rogue cop pulling over a tall kid and hurting him. Even with the training of “say yes sir or no ma’m, keep your hands on the wheel at all times, don’t get smart mouthed or argue at all... there is still a fear.

Hundreds Gather In Fullerton For Kelly Thomas Protest “
I am gratified and relieved to be so corrected...at least a small fraction of Fullerton residents are making a stand...and, apparently, a yet smaller fraction of journalists are finding it newsworthy.
More power to the fewer still manning the walls...
There needs to be a fear too. One son is 20 and has been ticketed twice for driving while young. Once they demanded a drug search and brought in a police dog to do it. The dog alerted, conveniently, but on the outside of the car! But of course there was nothing there.
The other time, i was there, a cop had this short man syndrome and was blustery and full of himself, a real jerk. We just stayed quiet and didn’t egg him on, so that’s all son got.
Nope, you got it right. I think in many cases like this, the authorities rely on elapsed time to provide a passive cover up so they don't have to actively bury the facts. The want public sentiment and passion to cool, then let their *findings* of "no wrongdoing" and "adherence to procedure" trickle out.
You can rest assured that if a homeless guy had beaten a cop into oblivion, the investigation would have been wrapped up within a week, with the charges presented to the DA, and numerous press releases reporting the tragedy of the officer's untimely death, the terrific, diligent work of the investigators, and the resolve of the DA to see justice done.
When it's a homeless guy beaten to death by cops...eh....not so much.
Travesties of Justice are a dime a dozen these days.
a symptom of a society on the decline, imho.
“... however to a few here... I am a cop hater...”
You aren’t a cop hater. You are a BAD cop hater. You hate that someone in law enforcement that is sworn to protect and serve will use that badge to deliberately hurt someone. That isn’t hating cops. That is hating an injustice performed by someone who is suppose to uphold the law. IMHO
In a place like Fullerton, the district attorneys office and police department are basically the same institution. They work with each other on a daily basis. Their paychecks come from the same place. They socialize with each other and even marry and have families together.
They could be correctly viewed as the local mob family.
Unless an outside party becomes involved, this will slowly go nowhere.
You recall correctly. His last words were, "Dad! Dad! Dad!" Breaks my heart. :'(
It is not open season on diagnosed schizophrenic people just because they happen to run away from cops. The cops were called to that location because of a vague 911 call about someone possibly trying to break into cars. There's zero evidence, so far, that (1) there really was someone trying to do that, and (2) if so, that it was Kelly. Just to hypothesize that he was, last I looked, such a crime does not carry the death penalty.
Well, one thing that isn't a conclusion, but a simple statement of fact is this: Simple burglary doesn't carry the death penalty anywhere in the United States. If these cops are not tried and convicted for 1st degree murder, then I would have to conclude simple burglary carries the death penalty in Fullerton.
By the way, I say 1st degree murder because it became premeditated the instant those cops refused to stop beating Kelly even when he was long past subdued and witnesses tried to get them to stop.
IMHO, the police saw a weak person. A homeless man that they assumed had no family or friends. To them, he was nothing. A simple bum. No constitutional rights, no protection under the law. Would this have happened to a business man wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase? It could but less likely. A business man would have a family... one that may seek out a lawsuit. One that would bring the case up for a review. A demand for justice. That is what frightens me most about this case... the total hatred for a person who had no intrinsic value to the officers.
Tragically, I believe you're right, Norm. :(
