On his nightly television show recently, MSNBC host Lawrence ODonnell said that Texas governor Rick Perry is not suitable to be president of the United States because of his connection to one man Pastor John Hagee of San Antonio, Texas.
Because Rick Perry has invited Hagee to his prayer event, the idiotic governor of Texas now owns that Hagee quote, ODonnell said in reference to a sermon Hagee delivered more than a decade ago in which he explored the connection between the evils of the Holocaust and the notion that God is loving and omnipotent. Rick Perry owns the idea that Hitlers killing 6 million Jews was Gods idea, ODonnell continued.
The implication of ODonnells words was clear: Hagee is an anti-Semite, a Jew haterand Perry is guilty by association.
But for those who know Hagee, and for those who are themselves acutely aware of the evils of anti-Semitism, ODonnells charge is simply not true.
He surely is not an anti-Semite, from what I can tell, Nobel Peace Prize winner and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel told me in a phone interview. He loves the Jewish state and the Jewish people. From what I learned during those meetings [with Hagee], he is not an anti-Semite.

WHO gives a pigs snout about MSLSD or LAWRENCE Oh Donald?
anybody who says John Hagee is anti-Semite has their head so far up somebodys behind they could scrape the tongue without either opening the mouth. I’ve not heard any Israeli that matters say John Hagee is anti-semite. Maybe those Liberal
Jews on J street say that— But nobody I know who knows—or has listened to John Hagee has spoken with such ignorance.
“which is what a typical liberal usually does.”
Liberal theology is rather simplistic.
To the extent they think about the Divine, it’s fuzzy notions of a dad-like being that punishes them for stuff or that they can ask for toys that they heard about when they were 8.
Subtle issues like how HaShem has used terrible people (e.g, Pharoah, Haman (boo!), and Hitler (double boo!)) to fulfil His will escapes them.
Can’t stand him either. But anti-semite is inaccurate. Snake-oil con artist maybe, but not a Jew hater.
That would be Lawrence ODonnell not Christine O’Donnell...
In a way that secular folks cannot comprehend, Hagee actually is an anti-semite because he believes the Jews have a separate covenant with God outside the covenant of Christ. He has said it is a waste of time to evangelize the Jewish people, a position to which the apostle Paul would take strong exception.
When a Dispensationalist like Hagee prays for Jesus to come soon he is praying for 2/3 of Jews to be slaughtered in a tribulation. I’d say that qualifies as anti-semitic.
Me too. Pastor Hagee is an excellent teacher about Israel. I watch his TV show whenever I can (he's knowledgeable and has an excellent sense of humor).
The assertions are so patently absurd that one wonders why the Weekly Standard would even bother to give them schrift?
The Leftists are natural-born, pathological liars.
I already know Pastor Hagee is pro-Jewish but can you tell me how he is a false teacher?
One very significant heretical teaching of Hagee's is his belief that Jews don't need Jesus Christ to be saved - and that is why Hagee will not share the Gospel with a Jew and orders others around him not to "waste their time" evangelizing Jews. He has a heretical understanding of the Covenants, and firmly believes that God has two plans of Salvation based on his faulty interpretation of the Abrahamic Covenant.
For Hagee to hold that position, it is clear that he doesn't understand the Gospel. And while his love for all things Israel and ethnic Jews appears to be almost a fetish, it can be argued that the greatest hate you can show a person is to actively deny them the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Because Hagee doesn't understand the Gospel, he doesn't understand the OT and considers it nothing more than a huge puzzle book of soothsaying for Rapturenauts. Though being a Futurist is not necessarily heretical, a person in his position of leading and teaching others, who is so woefully ignorant of all the major doctrines of Scripture, is worthy of rightfully earning the "false teacher" award.
And I'd say you were nothing but an ignorant, lying troll who'd never actually met a Dispensationalist, but that's just me.
RE: When a Dispensationalist like Hagee prays for Jesus to come soon he is praying for 2/3 of Jews to be slaughtered in a tribulation. Id say that qualifies as anti-semitic.
1) The last prayer in the book of Revelations says this ( see Revelations 22:20) : He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
So, how is his prayer different from what the Bible teaches? This verse is believed in even by non-dispensationalists.
2) I am not a dispensationalist by any means, but to ascribe sinister motives to them to the effect that they “wish” for or “weant to see” the slaughter of 2/3 of the Jews is stretching it.
If I read them correctly, they believe that during the great tribulation, PEOPLE WILL BE SLAUGHTERED, but it isn’t exactly an encouragement for someone to “slaughter of 2/3 of Israeli Jews”.
It is a belief that scripture teaches that that is going to happen during the great tribulation under the anti-christ’s persecution.
Dispensationalists look upon themselves as like the prophets of old — they believe they know that something dire will happen, yet, they WARN with all their might that it is not too late for salvation, so, even as they foresee a dire future, they try their best today to get as many people saved as posible. Like Jeremiah, they weep for those who refuse to repent (Jew or Gentile).
That, is my reading of their theology.
Whichever way you look at it, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY REJOICE IN SEEING SLAUGHTER OCCUR.
Even I find you silly.
My understanding of Christian theology is nil, but I understand that there is a series of plagues or whatnot akin to Exodus that would (if actually true) suck for everyone, Jew and non-Jew alike.
I didn’t know this about Pastor Hagee. Thanks for the info.
Kinda interesting, I know a Jewish Christian pastor that is also a firm believer in ‘all Israel will be saved’ (from Romans). I never really questioned him about what he meant by this, maybe it is similar.
This same friend once said he watched Cinderella with his kids and saw such a picture of Christ and the church (His bride). Until the king returns with the ‘glass slipper’, the church wasn’t revealed as to who she really is. I asked how he saw that in the movie, he said something like ‘when you eat/sleep/breath the establishment of Yeshua’s kingdom, you see it everywhere’. He wasn’t perfect, but I always enjoyed spending time with him.
No thanks necessary. I enjoyed reading your reply.....:)
Tell you the truth I never heard that about Jews not needing Jesus for salvation. Jesus IS the way to salvation. I was taught that God would set aside 144,000 Jews to accept salvation after the tribulation when all unbelievers are cast into hell. It’s been a long time since I studied my Bible and I’m ashamed to admit that but I will personally ask Rev. Hagee about this and I’ll be in touch. Thanks Theo...:)
The implication of O'Donnell's words was clear: Hagee is an anti-Semite, a Jew hater -- and Perry is guilty by association. It's ridiculous on its face. O'Donnell and the production staff would be suspended -- and O'Donnell fired and blackballed -- if MSNBC were a news organization.
That is just a stupid comment. Come on you can do better than this left wing Christian baiting slur. Get a grip.
