From the Harriman story on pg. 4.
The War Department announced that a similar tour would be taken simultaneously by three prominent Air Corps officers Colonel E.M. Powers, the famous Major James H. Doolittle, and Lieut. Col. K.G. Boyd, who will meet General Bretts party at certain points of the war front.
The Famous Major James H. Doolittle? You aint seen nothing yet. Check back about this time next year.

- "Launch an offensive and, while attacking in the direction of Roslavl' and Starodub, destroy the enemy grouping in the Pochep, Novgorod-Severskii, and Novozybkov region. Subsequently exploit the offensive in the general direction of Krichev and Propoisk and reach the Petrovichi, Klimovichi, Belaia Dubrava, Guta-Karetskaia, Novozybkov, and Shchors region by 15 September." - Stavka's increasingly desperate orders to Eremenko as Guderian continued to move on the Briansk Front
- The forces of Zhukov's Reserve Front, organized into two shock groups launched a counter attack on the Yel'nya salient in the first coordinated offensive by the Russians since the beginning of the war. After penetrating 10 kilometers into Kluge's southern flank, Bock was forced to send two divisions including 10th Panzer to restore the line.
