Okay, we all know Hurricane Irene was hyped to the gills.
WHY?
Was it slow news? Was it media infatuation with Obama at the helm of FEMA?
dnc-Soros-MSM used Katrina for political purposes.
From now on winds in excess of 50mph will require a massive hundred million dollar plus response.
Wonder how much carbon was wasted moving millions of folks for no reason.

Both were noteworthy, but neither resulted in anything of newsworthy significance. So they need to move on. It is true that 11 people were killed, mostly by trees falling, but how many, in that region, would have been killed in carwrecks had the weather been normal? Meanwhile, floods in the midwest wiped out whole towns, inexorably altering the lives of thousands. The drouth from California to Virginia continues to effect farmers and ranchers, which will effect every eating person in the USA,..but little, proportionally speaking is said of these things. I guess flyover is just not that important.

A big part of the overkill was because the bulk of the main stream media companies are headquartered in NYC and this storm was expected to affect them so personally. If something this big had happened to Arizona, there’d be barely a peep from the MSM.

Those who think this storm wasn’t much to speak of need to see this main street in Tannersville.....looks like Tusami hit them...watch the boat rescue go upstream a bit and you’ll see more of the street.

It's a shame we that are east of the Mississippi hear less of the rural West and more from the dysfunctional elements in urban locales like San Francisco. The media industry, news and entertainment, sees no value in publicizing the healthy and wholesome.

A real storm unlike what ended up hitting NYC! We had a windstorm last year, not as strong as your's, but frightening just the same. A tree came down on my brother's house next door. And it's an eerie sensation in the night hearing trees cracking in the distance and hoping one doesn't come down on your roof.

Almost 700,000 customers in CT lost their power. As of 9am 587,502 customers are out of power - 47% of NU’s customers in CT.
I lost power for almost 5 hours last night (after Irene pretty much ended)- flooding and evacuations in my town - trees down.
It was ‘over hyped’ but damage did occur in some areas. Lots of power outages, trees down and flooding - just not as widespread as the “MSM” and the Administration was hoping for :>)

I was in Brattleboro last week - what a strange and weird town - needed a good washing....../s (hopefully no one was hurt and minimal damage)
