Don't like Perry? How about promoting your candidates positives?
8/27/11 | Listenhillary

Posted on 08/27/2011 7:00:28 PM PDT by listenhillary

We are adults and most on FR are very intelligent persons. I think we can decide if a candidate is right for us.

How about stop repeating the same Gardasil, Texas corridor, immigration stories over and over and over. Most have seen them by now if they have been paying attention. Most have judged the stories and condemn Perry to hell for them or they think that a president just might have different priorities than a state governor.

Screaming at us in all caps isn't going to change any minds. FR isn't the entire universe of voters. We are a very small pool of voters. If you're hell bent on trashing a candidate, it is likely that your efforts are wasted trying to persuade FR posters to change their minds about a candidate. Start standing out by the road with a sign telling your horror stories, pestering people in restaurants and buying billboards and advertising in newspapers and TV. You will have much more impact.

If you insist on cherry picking the negatives, can we do the same to you reviewing every decision and action that you have taken in your life? How would that work out for you? Honestly showing everything you have done, could you withstand the scrutiny?

I realize some of you insist that we are making a horrible mistake. The primary isn't until next year. Stop screaming. OK?

Ronald Reagan was a DEMOCRAT until he came to his senses, how's THAT for positive?

Yeah and he didn't run for any office until five years after his conversion. He didn't chair a wacko 'Rat's campaign. Perry saw a sinking ship after the '88 campaign and bailed.

My principles won’t allow me to support either Perry or Obama for president.

My principles won’t allow me to support anybody who doesn't have a chance to beat Obama.

Why take all the fun out of it?

I wasn’t aware of that promise. Source? But if true, I would call it a lie. However, it won’t change my support of him. I’m glad he’s running and will sacrafice him for the greater good of our country.

The only way there would be a candidate that I agreed with 100% would be if I decide to run. I would vote for Perry with way less trepidation than Juan McCain.

Ii can tell you who I am going to vote for: ANYBODY BUT OBAMMY!

Hopefully, we’ll get a good nominee, and as a Texan, I’m not a big supporter of Perry. Our TX congress was able to veto some of his worst ideas, but he still seems to me to be just another entrenched RINO.

That’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you are convinced in advance that Cain or someone like him cannot win, then you have already surrendered to the Party hacks, country-clubbers, and crony-capitalist empire-builders like Perry. Cain, Bachmann, and Palin are the only real Tea Party candidates. Perry is an imposter climbing on our bandwagon. Kick him off!

Thank you. This is turning out to be very much a choice like the one between Reagan and Carter, for once conservatives didn't have to hold their noses and the independents couldn't vote for Carter.

We don't have to settle for someone palatable to the indies.

Perry is not the local dog catcher.
He is the longest serving Governor in Tx history

And there you sit with Jerry Moonbeam Brown
I left So ca after Pete Wilson lost office.

No, he found Jesus, who changes minds and hearts.

That's my Truth, what's yours?

There are usually a lot of trolls on here trying to exploit wedge issues to divide conservatives in any way they can.

Most freepers are aware enough to be able to spot the trolls.

Chill out people.

I'm a Perry supporter. What we have here are a few A@@holes spamming every Perry thread with inane BS. Frankly, I don't care if they are Palin or Paul supporters, it pisses me off. They are not helping their cause. I'm laughing and taking names.....

Yeah, sure. Would he have found him if Gore had been elected president in 1988?

I think Listenhillary has a valid point in posting this thread.

FR has become a “let’s beat up our potential candidate forum”

Meanwhile Obama licks his ice cream and plays golf.

Perry isn’t “my candidate” at this point. I like Bachmann and Palin (but I don’t think Sarah will run). I’m content to wait and see. But I’m also liking Perry more every time I hear him. Here are 10 reasons why (I origanally wrote this to someone in California, hence the CA comparisons).

Ten reasons why I like Rick Perry

10. In 2009, Gov. Rick Perry received the Defender of Jerusalem Award, given to public figures who have demonstrated support and commitment to the state of Israel and its capitol, Jerusalem. The governor accepted the award while on his trip to Israel, where he also met with Israeli President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and business and academic leaders.

9. Perry supports building the F22. He recently noted that when Obama canceled the program the rational was that China would not have similar capability (the J-20) until 2025, or 2020 at the earliest. Now it is set to be deployed in 2017,

8. Calls for a full and open audit of the Federal Reserve.

7. Signed loser pays law for lawsuits found frivolous by a judge.

6. Has enforced the death penalty more than any other governor in history. Texas has executed 50 poachers of human life in the last three years. When they give the death sentance in Texas, they mean it. California has over 700 death row inmates, and has exectuted zero in the last three years. A death sentance in CA means death by natural causes.

5. Helped Texas to become ranked the most business friendly state in the country (California is dead last).

4. Perry is a veteran Air Force pilot who gave five years of his life in the service of his country. He understands firsthand military culture and the sacrifices all members of the Armed Forces make in service to their country.

3. Perry is skeptical about the man-made global warming scam, which is being used by the warmists to call for the largest worldwide transfer of wealth in history, via UN carbon taxes on industrialized countries. He understands how devastating cap and trade would be for our economy.

2. Perry is a strong 2nd Amendment supporter, gun owner, and NRA member.

1. Half the jobs created recently in the entire USA were in Texas (see #5). Over the decade between April 2001 and April 2011, more than 730,000 private sector jobs were created in the Lone Star State. During that same stretch of time, the next-best state added just over 90,000 and the nation as a whole lost 2.2 million.
