The Back to Black singer was found dead at her flat in north London on July 23.
The family statement said: ''Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death
''Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.

I am going to throw out my 1964 Topps Mantle card. I don’t want to be seen as celebrating his alcoholism. That will only encourage more people to become alcoholics, particularly baseball players.
“I’m blaming the daughter for becoming an addict. She CHOSE to use drugs. She KNOWS they are addicting. She USED them anyway.”
My father let all three of his sons drink a little, as teenagers.
His father had done that, and so he simply followed his elders’ wisdom. It was called “learning how to drink.”
Two of the three became alcoholics, one did not.
In my family, my mother included, do NOT condemn the alcoholic...for some kind of moral shortcoming. In our society drink is everywhere.
Fortunately neither of us drank ourselves to death.
If you studied more, and had an open mind, you might realize that alcoholics and addicts need spiritual recovery, and that their condition is so serious they often CANNOT stop drugging or drinking on their own.
That is why they call it addiction.
But without your approval of their levels of morality, God helps many of these awful people to recover.
Study Alcoholics Anonymous. It isn’t a liberal plot. It is an American story that adds to knowledge, saves lives and relationships.
You and your friend ought to do anything possible to get her daughter into recovery. And if that attempt fails, keep trying. It might save a life, which is a moral thing to do.
Or my Bobby Layne cards.
No. I'm not. And you're in for a shock.
You represent an extreme, and a weird one at that.
You think Free Republic believes that drug use is involuntary and moral?
So you ignore scientific evidence that addiction is not a choice?
She WILLINGLY took drugs. She made a CHOICE. Her addiction was the direct result of her CHOICES.
Some people are simply more susceptible to addiction than others.
They have to WILLINGLY take them to become addicted.
then what's your solution?
Don't take drugs and one won't become addicted.
You are very young and have yet to learn about personal responsibility.
Why exactly are you pinging Jim Robinson to my post? Because I objected to someone calling her a whore when she didn’t do anything to him? I’m hardly the only one in this thread who thinks it is disgusting that the two of you are piling on a dead woman who suffered from alcoholism. You are in the distinct minority. Point to one other person besides Responsibility2nd who agrees with your position in this thread. I can point to at least 5 who agree with me.
Give it a rest. There is NO reason to try street drugs. And you cannot help someone that doesn’t want to be helped.
You and the other guy have smeared me every chance you've gotten. I've been called a retread, a liberal, a libertarian, someone who is pro-abortion, NONE OF WHICH ARE TRUE. I've never posted here before, I'm about as far from liberal as you can get, I'm not a libertarian, and I'm PRO-LIFE. Again, Thomas Sowell agrees with me on this. Walter Williams agrees with me on this. Milton Friedman agrees with me on this. Do you consider these guys to be anything but conservative? Walter Williams fills in on Rush's radio show from time to time.
Alcoholism is not a street drug. Do you think that no one should drink alcohol?
Because of this statement: You're still in the distinct minority on this thread, on this conservative forum. You represent an extreme, and a weird one at that.
FR believes in personal responsibility and accepting the consequences of ones action. This is not a minority opinion. It is a basic ideal of conservatives.
Mickey Mantle also had a problem with alcohol. If I posted a thread commemorating his career, would you accuse me of celebrating his alcoholism? The analogy fits, but I somehow doubt that you'd care about that.
No more DUI's? No more waking up next to someone you don't know? No more dead livers by age 40? What a concept!
Alcoholism is largely biological.
Drinking is a choice. It leads to alcoholism.
You are so young........
You keep making excuses for bad choices.
Just in case I wasn’t clear, when I was talking about you being in the distinct minority on this issue, what I was referring to was your decision to slam a dead woman who cannot defend herself. You can count on a couple of fingers the people in this thread who have agreed with your position. I NEVER said that the majority of Freepers believe that drug use is moral or involuntary. 90% of this thread has been a back and forth about whether it is correct to call a poor young woman a whore because she suffered from alcoholism. You are putting words in my mouth and everyone reading this thread KNOWS it. They KNOW it.
Amy who?
If that was the case, I'd be an alcoholic today. I drank four nights a week in college. Sometimes I woke up in the middle of a gutter and didn't remember how I got there. But I managed to turn it off after Sunday afternoon, and focus on my courses Monday through Thursday. I drink maybe once a month now, mostly socially.
Yes, drinking is a choice. But some people are way more susceptible to alcoholism than others, and you can't know until it's too late.
I quoted you. And the Boss knows how to read.
What I said is that most Freepers who have posted on this thread think that it is inappropriate for you and someone else to be insulting the memory of a dead woman who did no harm to you
No one is insulting a dead person. Posters are acknowledging that she made BAD choices that you want to blame on biochemistry.
She is not a moral icon. Her personal life and choices were a disaster. And it killed her.
Mickey Mantle also had a problem with alcohol.
Ma! He did it why can't she? Huh huh? /s
“Give it a rest. There is NO reason to try street drugs. And you cannot help someone that doesnt want to be helped.”
She died with no drugs in he system. Just legal alcohol.
You missed or ignore medical advancement since the 1939 publication of “Alcoholics Anonymous” and the later classification of alcoholism and addiction as “Diseases” by the AMA.
Medical science as well as religion are strongly engaged in helping people.
How do you propose helping the alcoholic or addict? By lecturing them, condemning them?
By that time, those things have already been tried and have failed.
The God of my understanding wants me to help them, not condemn them.
I think you are wasting your time. DJ Macwow has already advocated for the belief that no one should ever drink alcohol. See her #131. She stated that drinking is a choice and that it leads to alcoholism. Doesn’t matter to her if it is legal or not.
She didn't become a saint when she died. She was not a saint when she was alive.
You can count on a couple of fingers the people in this thread who have agreed with your position.
How many worshipful threads are there posted to her? There aren't.
She made horrible choices.
Look, I have dishes to do and have no more time to educate you on personal responsibility. My 26 year old daughter believes that I'm wasting my time even talking to you. I agree with her.
Have a nice day.
