A guy gave a woman a hummer? Who knew?
To: Enterprise
Hum? I think CA law is that if the man breaks the engagement the woman keeps the ring, if the woman breaks the engagement she has to give it back.

He is probably lucky.
If they had married she would have then really taken him to the cleaners.

Dude. You paid for the cow, before you got the milk for free.
Or something to that effect.
Bottom line. You are an idiot. Hope you learned your lesson.

So far, after reading all the other posts, it is fairly obvious that none of them went to the link and read the article.
It only had TWO MORE SENTENCES.
The most important one of all, was this:
“She says her client is suffering because he doesn’t know if she loved him or his money. “

Business Law 101 - An engagement ring is not a gift. It is given in anticipation of completing a promise. In the absence of completion, the ring reverts to the party that brought the ring to the party. The SUV was a gift and is hers to do with as she pleases.
As for, She says her client is suffering because he doesnt know if she loved him or his money. Dude, you gave her a 100k worth of stuff up front and she still stepped out on you? You really need a judge to sort that out? Really? Your actual suffering is more likely related to a failure to dose up on antibiotics.

An engagement ring is a "conditional" gift. If the condition of marriage is not met, then the gift is returned. There is legal precedence for this.
Sorry "ladies", you are not entitled to literally everything. What's the hell is wrong with women anymore? Who would want to keep an engagement ring?
