A guy gave a woman a hummer? Who knew?
To: Enterprise
Hum? I think CA law is that if the man breaks the engagement the woman keeps the ring, if the woman breaks the engagement she has to give it back.

He is probably lucky.
If they had married she would have then really taken him to the cleaners.

umnh...uhn...she probably doesn’t look half bad in the right light, and without such garish surroundings.
To: Lazamataz
Ack, maybe if its 2 am and “It’s Closing Time” is being played by the DJ, and you are doing your last walk through.

They are talking about it now on KMJ. As I understand it, it doesn’t matter who breaks the engagement, the man can still get the property back because they were given in anticipation of marriage.

Poor guy, I got off easy, she only stole my kitchen curtains.
To: yarddog
The local talk show brought out information that she was engaged in another relationship, so the guy broke off the engagement. He might be considering himself extremely lucky about now.

Why such ridiculous laws?? If the engagement is broken...the ring goes back??

So far, after reading all the other posts, it is fairly obvious that none of them went to the link and read the article.
It only had TWO MORE SENTENCES.
The most important one of all, was this:
“She says her client is suffering because he doesn’t know if she loved him or his money. “

The guy is supposed to be 45 years old. Kind of late in life to be learning these kinds of lessons.
