1. I recently purchased the rights to a patent that has great potential for profit. I will be developing the product in some place OTHER than the US. The parent company is being formed in Canada as we type and ANY production will be done in Canada or Australia. I am a long time business owner and developer. I WILL NOT open another company in the US.
2. Back in the 1980's there were many Federal Tax rate tiers. People working for me were often in a situation where if they worked four hours(or more) of overtime they would net LESS in their paycheck than if they worked a 40 hour week. It was practically impossible to get people to work overtime. This was also often the case of a rasie. I had more than one employee ask me to take back a significant raise because they were taking home less money.
Your professors example is silly. Very few today get 50% raises outside of very big business.

Many small businesses operate on the razor’s edge of profitability. One of my relatives had a company where he made only 2-3% profit on gross sales.
I personally know a man who shut down a profitable business because he felt he was working too hard for his after-tax profits. Now he spends a lot of time on his houseboat and at his cabin in the mountains and produces....ZERO.
We have seen examples in high-tax European countries where people choose to earn less while building their own houses, fixing their own cars, etc. In other words, high taxes distort the economy and force people into sub-optimal uses of their productive time.

higher tax rates stifle real and human capital investment.
How dumb are you?
you must be some one who signs the back of a check. Nothing wrong with that, everyone needs a job.
But if you are ever somone who signs the front of a lot of checks to run your business, buy stuff to get a job done or keep work going and have to fork out BooKoo Bucks for employees You’ll figure it out.
Now back to work. I had 20 calls today from men who want your job and you do not distinguish yourself at all.

You're making 100K at 25% rate. If you have a chance for a raise to 150K at 35% rate, everyone is going to take the raise. They just won't care about taxes. How do we prove that wrong? People generally get such big raises as a result of putting in hard work. If a salaried guy normally puts in 60 hour weeks and is willing to get on a plane on zero notice, he's likely to get a raise.
If the raise is only going to increase his net income by 30K, he may choose instead to only work 35 hours, not be available for trips, and enjoy himself more.
That's what high taxes do: they provide an incentive for people to go for more leisure than more income.
