I went to high school in DC (Navy brat) and since Dad retired from the Navy there (while I was in college), I still have family in that area.
I visit at least once a year and am always reminded of why I got out of that place as soon as I could.
There are lots of exceptions, but the overall feel of the DC area is one of paranoia and unfriendliness. Lately, it seems that anger and resentment have ramped up there as well. I always want to tell the angry ones, "Well, you voted for him."
