Channel surfing this afternoon, Discovery Channel has somehow lost all the shows I like this weekend, and I'm bored.
Even though, it's a slow news day - I decided on the default choice: Fox News.
Lo and behold:
"But Wait! Order in the next (insert time frame here) minutes, and you can double your order for free, just pay shipping and handling".
That's when the epiphany struck, and it became clear. Bet you'll realize it's true, also:
Everything I've (ever) seen advertised on one of those television infomercials - is exactly the sort of thing which would be made in China.
All of it.
My proposal: When you hear the words: "But Wait!".
Substitute:
"But no thanks!". :D
Seriously. If you're seeing it for the first time on a television infomercial. Trust me. You don't need it.
You got along fine until now without one of those every day of your life. Right up until today - you do not need one. You don't. So just say "no".
A minor, but meaningful decision. Gotta start somewhere.
America first!
People who buy ‘as seen on TV’ stuff are suckers. I can’t remember if it was Dave Ramsey or someone else who said it was one of the signs of someone who isn’t wise with their money (such as buying lotto tickets or getting involved in MLMs).
Amish heaters?
As far as I know, only the wood cabinet for those, is actually made by the Amish...
Says so right in the commercial. Wait until it gets cold again, and watch.
All of the parts for the Amish Heaters are made in China. They just have some Amish folks put a few of the parts together.

I hate it when someone tries to tell me what I do or do not need. I’m all for not buying stuff from China though. You get my Pasta Boat when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. :)
Hand Prys are now made in China too. :>
So you hate the guy with the Australian accent, who tells you, you absolutely “need” a pasta boat?
(not even sure what a pasta boat is, but just saying...)
:D
What is your point exactly? I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from those as-seen-on-TV commercials, but if I noticed a good product I wanted at a competitive price I’d buy it. No different than shopping in a store. My decision will have nothing to do with where said product is made unless there is a quality issue I need to be mindful of.
Your not going to save American industry by boycotting as-seen-on-TV products. Nor are you going to hurt China.
And if this is a buy USA vanity, then I’m with you so long as the US product is competitively made and priced. If I want a product and the price and quality are the same, I’d buy American. I am not, however, going to buy an American made product if it is not as good or more expensive than the foreign made competitor.
In the end, the manufacture of cheap household products requires largely low skilled, minimally educated workers. Those types of jobs will always be farmed out to the cheapest labor pool.
It looks like a 25c piece of Tupperware with holes drilled in the lid.
BUT THAT’S NOT ALL
(seriously, that is on that website)
My point is, American consumers are paying for China’s new aircraft carriers, and every single new weapons system being purchase by the Peoples Liberation Army.
What is your point, in one sentence?
I was just joking....the entire concept of the amish heater cracks me up. They allegedly produce more heat per 1500 watts than other heaters. How? The expert craftmanship of people who would never use an electric heater :). Sure its crap...but its amish crap.
My son and I were discussing, just this morning, how those commercials make people look like bumbling fools. Who knew cracking an egg required a PhD in dexterity, or a $19.95 plastic thing? If you don't have an aluminum wallet, you drop your money all over the ground every time you open your leather billfold!
A Pasta Boat: Add pasta and water and hit the button on the microwave. Drain & do your thing. Honestly ... it frees up an element on the stove and the pasta is the perfect texture every time. I bought it at the store though.
Don't you dare try to touch my husband's leopard print Snuggie. You'll pull back a nub because he can still use his arms. :)
So. About 2 renminbi then retail, over there?
Before the infomercial mark-up... ;)
No thanks.
And what about that horrible set of commercials by Abby Bank! What they do to hurt the feelings of the children is horrible. I know, it’s supposed to be a successful ad because I remember the name of the bank. But you know what — I would never patronize a bank that sticks it to children like they do!

That is US government policy right now.
If it weren't then corporate tax rates for goods manufactured in America would be zero. Right now tax rates are, I believe, number two in the world behind Japan. Corporate tax policy is just another redistribution scheme and the redistribution goes from America to China, India, and any other socialist/communist country in the world.
If you want to place blame, place it squarely where it belongs: on Democrats and Republicans who bend to Democrat's will.
All that TV junk with second one free is a scam ,Bing that rubber spray junk and see that people end up with 4 , 8 or 12 of those things and they never get a refund(sorry can’t help you). When it says 2 ,they make it 4 LOL
I always say, if the product is so good, why don’t stores choose to sell it?
Democrats and Republicans are not the ones who make factory placement, or hiring / firing decisions.
Blame rests squarely on the globalist greedballs, who don’t even think about what is good for America.

Me either. I’m pretty sure they had none when we went to a bunch of restaurants in Tuscany 3 years ago.
