Earth to MNJohnnie: Romney pulled out of the Iowa Straw Poll in early June. If he jumped back in, I must have missed the announcement.
And in ‘87 it appears GHWB came in 3rd, yet won the nomination and went on to beat the little Duke.
McCain, because of his Military record could win south of the Mason Dixon line. Romney cannot. So, if he cannot do better then this in the Midwest, and he cannot win the the South, where does he win the Nomination?
I think there is a very clear indication that the political landscape has shifted dramatically since 08.

I certainly thought I remembered waiting breathlessly for the North Carolina vote and watching those precincts roll in. I remember the roar that went up when he finally won it.
