Two-year-old pitbull terrier shot after charging at police Husband finds Darla Napora's body drenched in blood Victim suffered dozens of bites to her body and face
A pregnant woman was found by her husband in her home mauled to death by one of their pet pit bull terriers.
Darla Napora, 32, was bitten dozens of times and found covered in blood outstretched on their living room floor in Pacifica, California.
Police say the two-year-old unneutered pit bull believed to be responsible was hovering around the woman, who had major injuries to her upper body and face. When they arrived, they found the victim laying in her own front living room; she was not breathing, unresponsive and had major trauma to her upper body,' said Pacifica Police Captain Dave Bretini.
'The husband stated that when he got home, at about noon, he found his wife with their pit bull hovering over her.' Police shot the blood covered pit bull terrier, similar to the one pictured, dead as it tried to escape from the back garden whilst officers conducted their investigation
Police shot the blood covered animal dead as it tried to escape from the back garden whilst officers conducted their investigation.
'The last thing we wanted to happen was for the dog to get out and start attacking bystanders or be loose in the neighborhood,' Bertini said.
'So as soon as the dog got out of the backyard, the decision was immediately made to put that dog down and that's why the dog was shot three times by two officers on scene.'

Neighbour Tom Lujan believes pit bulls are dangerous: 'I wouldn't have one, and I wouldn't want my family around one,' he said.

oh and by ‘an animal’ I meant ‘a pitbull’
Thank God she was already dead.
Just out of curiosity, what do you suppose the /s means that I put at the end of my post?
Pitbulls are known for their attack-without-warning style. It supposedly was an advantage bred into them for dog fighting.
Something I read: An animal specialisttrainer went to investigate a dog attack a few weeks after it occurred. The dog was in the yard when he arrived. It wagged its tail and cocked it’s head. As he walked up to the fence it began to do the ‘let’s play’ bow and bounce, wagging it’s tale with it’s tongue draped out the side of its mouth, excitedly squirming in anticipation of running and playing together. And when the animal specialist leaned close enough to the fence, the dog attacked hitting the fence at face height while snarling and growling. From then on the dog remained in attack mode. The animal trainer thought to himself ‘yeah, that would work, tell the other dog that you want to play and then rip into it.’
There are lots of stories like that. The problem with the pit bull is that its behavior is not very dog like. The pitbull attack without warning, hold on and shake, and tendency to strip and or eat flesh off of victims resulting in bleed out - are more like the behavior of a wild animal.
“Just starting to turn his life around.”
Attending AA and had a job interview next week, did he?
You are stupid and arrogant and obviously unaware of the history of this breed, that contains many incidents of “well behaved” pit bulls suddenly turning lethal without warning.
No, and only an idiot would say otherwise.
I have had pit bull lovers rage at me that I am biased because Llaso Apsos bite more people every year than the number bitten by pits and yet they don’t have the same bad repuation! No, seriously....depending on the lighting it can be hard to tell a Llaso Apso from a hamster...
I've raised a lot of ire here in the past when I said: make me dictator and there will be no pit bulls allowed in the USA. No imports and the ones already here will be put to death. I of course was joshing but you should have seen the responses I got on that one. I thought only a stupid Liberal would be dumb enough to bring a dog like that home to the family but believe me, there are plenty of idiot right here on FR and I don't think they are Liberals. Which proves that stupidity has no limits.
I think that many people are just ignorant of the dangers involved in owning a pitbull. I only learned about them through constant reading of Free Republic articles.
Dachshund killed a baby here many years ago.
Just curious, how much Pit Bull does a dog have to have to make him dangerous? Is 1/4 Pit Bull too much? 1/8? 1/16? Is there a genetic test to give a dog that will warn a potential owner that they are adopting a ticking time bomb?
How many times did the woman die?
My pit will try to lick you to death or bury you with his toys that he wants you to throw for him.
He will probably end up killing me by tripping me cause he is like a shadow that doesn’t know which side the sun is shining and always underfoot.
That being said ... I chain him when I can’t watch him because if he gets in a fight with another animal he will be blamed no matter what.
And he was a Rescued Dog that had been seriously mis-treated ...
He isn’t a very good watch dog because he wants to be friends ... Meter Reader loves him and throws his squeeky ball 4 or 5 times each time he shows up.
TT
They always say that too when a child has been found arrested for murder...
most of the times it’s “ HE DID NOT HAVE AN ENEMY IN THIS WORLD “ ...
“Pit bulls are ticking time bombs.”
I had a friend that was a Ca State Humane Officer.....when a new neighbor (the existing neighbors ex husband) moved in next door with a pit bull, I asked him for his thoughts......He said “Kill it as soon as you can.”
I choose to sell my home and move...... the dog in question killed 2 neighbors dogs, attacked 2 others and bit a little girl during the time it took to move.......”He’s never done that before!” uh huh.....Gentle as lambs.....
Hmmmm. Interesting comment. I guess I must have missed the bad behavior being displayed by the pitbull that suddenly attacked without warning or provacation a Black Lab in our neighborhood park while I was walking one of my dogs last year.
Twice according to the headline.
This is more astounding.
