How to Make Homemade Chlorine Bleach
Preparedness Daily ^ | 8/10/11 | Tactical Intelligence

One of the main components that you’ll want to have around the house (or apartment) during a SHTF situation is chlorine bleach. Not only can it be used for cleaning water (although boiling is hands down more effective and healthier) it is excellent for keeping things sanitary.

Unfortunately, the average shelf life of liquid bleach (being stored between 50 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit) is around 6 months. After that, bleach will lose 20% of it’s strength at around the year mark and then 20% each year after that. So if you’re not vigilant about keeping it rotated, chances are when you need it for disinfecting water or to keep things clean you’ll be fresh out of bleach and luck.

There is no other place to take a prepper subject.

Since when did conservatives and preppers go Lenny Bruce?

The best way to clean a wooden cutting board is to spray it with vinegar and then spray it with hydrogen peroxide. The order of spraying doesn’t matter.

bvw appology excepted and consider this post a handshake.

CodeToad we are square.

ansel12 you made your point and then continued to ‘hijack’ the thread. I do understand your concern, but wouldn’t everyone have been better served if you would have started a seperate thread about your concerns and left this thread for those who wish to gain knowledge and discuss the subject. As my pastor says you don’t bring people to God by telling them they are going to hell you bring them by telling them how they can get to heaven. All you did was ruin the thread for all that were interested in the subject and made a lot of people mad and now they will never listen to your message.

driftdiver, ChocChipCookie, kimmie7, The Duke thanks for having my back! ;-)

Thank you so much for your response. I don’t have a lot of money to do everything I need to do but I certainly can do a few things like clean drinking water thanks to all the advice I have received.

Where does one get, “spoiled wine”?

Take wine (or cider, vodka, beer, or other alcoholic beverage)and leave it open for a few days, then cover it with a cloth or loose-fitting lid. Vinegar needs oxygen to ferment. You'll be able to tell by the smell when it's finished.

Once you have a good vinegar going, you can start a new one using the film that forms at the top of the old one, called the vinegar "mother", to seed new batches. Just float it on the top, don't stir it in.

Your science is correct your sensibilities are misplaced! Why allow wine to spoil in the first place? Life's too short. Bebe porque la vida es breve!
