Jackie Onassis believed that Lyndon B Johnson and a cabal of Texas tycoons were involved in the assassination of her husband John F Kennedy, ‘explosive’ recordings are set to reveal.

The secret tapes will show that the former first lady felt that her husband’s successor was at the heart of the plot to murder him.

She became convinced that the then vice president, along with businessmen in the South, had orchestrated the Dallas shooting, with gunman Lee Harvey Oswald – long claimed to have been a lone assassin – merely part of a much larger conspiracy.

Texas-born Mr Johnson, who served as the state’s governor and senator, completed Mr Kennedy’s term and went on to be elected president in his own right.

The tapes were recorded with leading historian Arthur Schlesinger Jnr within months of the assassination on November 22, 1963, and had been sealed in a vault at the Kennedy Library in Boston.

I can’t understand WHY they would (and she’d allow) the release this of information, when they didn’t have to and no one was banging on their door asking.

I don’t buy the “deal” she made. It just doesn’t add up. The mini-series was shown anyway and if it had had some “shocking” revelation, she could have turned her back on the questions and no one would have blinked an eye.

Lots of groups had reason to be PO'd at JFK: Dixiecrats, CIA insiders, but especially the mob families, who were double crossed as well by little brother Bobby as AG.
I don't know if LBJ was in on the planning, but the fact that the assassin was himself assassinated within the day (clearly to shut his mouth for good) indicates a conspiracy.
Sure, there are lots of lone assassins with Marine Corps shooting skills lurking out there, but how many have access to the Presidential parade route and access to key buildings, as well as travel money to follow the Prez around? Lone assassin is almost an oxymoron in the JFK assassination case.

What reason does anyone have to believe the Kennedys will release every word of every tape and transcript? They give us what is useful to themselves as a political family. In this case, probably just enough to put in doubt the worst of what's in the documentary.

There were many of his enemies in Texas that were killed to get him in the Senate.
He (LBJ) was one of the worst presidents we ever had. Yes, ZERO has him beat, but not by much.
He had a disdain for the Kennedy's and he wanted the presidency and he knew his only way in was for JFK to die in office.

I always thought Oswald was framed. He coukd have equiped himself with a much better weapon. And if you wrote a novel in which you had the villin equiped with a Carcano rife the publisher would have said change the weapon, no one will believe that. Also a magizine published photos several years later which showed people pointing to the grassy knoll and police running towards it.
