This is baby smokey. She was destined for the gunny sack and creek but...she came to live with me. :)

This is 'Gremlin'. He was absolutely the best K9 I ever owned. Collies rule! He was lying on the side of the road way back in the 80's. His tail had been snapped off (a trap?) and he was full of burrs. Anyway he came to live with us. We groomed him for days to get out the burrs. The vet said he was around 15 years old. Gremlin lived with us for around 7 years. Absolutely the best dog I ever owned.

This is "Bubby", (he made me post this). This is the most perfect feline I've ever had. He's a 3-legger and came to be with us 3 years ago. One day I looked out my front door and he was wandering around. All I had to do was call 'here kitty, kitty, kitty...and he came flying. What a blessing he has been to my household!

And this...this is "Baby Boy" the most joyous experience I've had raising a 'critter'. My 'feral' rescue (no pics of her) brought him home one night. His eyes were still closed. She was licking him like he was a kitten and she had him firmly in her clutches (but no injuries). All I can surmise is that she thought he was an orphaned kitten.

Show your Furbabies and tell your story(ies). I'm thoroughly convinced that God gives us these creatures as gifts. They enrich our lives and they love us without reservation. I'm hoping you will share your blessings with all of us FReepers.

Fur babies, huh? Well, I could show you a picture of my chest, but I’d be banned from FR for life...

All are adorable.

Also heart warming to know there are kind people like you who take in “fur-babies” and give them a loving home. :)

Awww, thanks for posting these and telling their stories. I’m not home enough to have a dog so I enjoy seeing pictures of other people’s pets.

Roxy the black one, showed up at my back door one day and would not leave. Tried to find her owner but no one ever claimed her. Found her a home with a neighbor but she kept coming back to our house. The brown Pom is crippled and can't get around very well so I end up carrying him...a lot. They are both spoiled rotten. There's also a crazy border collie that thinks it's a little dog too in the house.Photobucket

I want to thank you and all the Freepers who post stories like this. I LOVE cats and dogs. I grew up with cats, and lived in a home with a dog in high school. I miss it. I'm simply not capable of properly caring for a dog, and not even a cat at this point in my life. I have friends with dogs and cats, and I get to see them when I visit, sort of "fur uncle."

These sorts of threads really make my day, and I thank you for them.

Mark

Hi there S&A...maybe you could ping your list on this. Let’s share our babies with each other...Cats, Dogs, Horses or any other fur-baby. It will be a nice ‘detour’ from the madness don’t you think?

Wow... parallel universe ! : ~ )

Gremlin looks just like Jimmy Joe... my Grandmother's dog (she passed away several years ago and Jimmy Joe followed her about 4 months later).

Bubby looks like my cat Oreo circa early 1990's.... Oreo was given to me by my Grandfather when a female calico had babies in his backyard.

Baby Smokey looks so much like a cat I had in the 1970's - Seymour Socks.... only think Smokey is missing is the socks!

One of my pups, Hairy a broken coat (very broken) Jack Russel Terrier, has been certified as a therapy dog. We made our first trip to a convalescent home this afternoon. Hairy performed his duties spectacularly. He was calm and gracious, friendly and happy to be petted and fussed over. Good dog Hairy!

But these ARE ours:

My angel baby, STELLA

and, not to be outdone, Beaux

This was one of my favorites when Beaux was just a little kitteh. Stella won't let him share her bed anymore.
