In his new book on President Obama's first year in office, "The Promise," Jonathan Alter includes a quote from the president's chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, illustrating just how opposed Emanuel was to the president's push for comprehensive health care reform.
"I begged him not to do this," Emanuel told Alter, as detailed by the Washington Post's Greg Sargent, writing off advanced excerpts put out ahead of the book's release Tuesday. (Hotsheet just got its copy of the book and is planning to dig into it this weekend.)
The president overruled Emanuel, telling him, according to the book, that he "wasn't sent here to do school uniforms."

This health are plan was already mostly drafted up and ready to go before Obama was even elected. It was a done deal as soon as they held the Congress and the presidency, whether that was Obama, or Hillary or anyone else.
That’s why I reject the term ObamaCare.

I do remember reading about him trying to stab Pelosi in the back and his dream of being speaker of the house one day, he's a political animal, zero is a petulant child with no regard for counsel of others.

Great woman, don't get me wrong. Loved her rant - and she obviously is a good manager.

Exactly why was Obama sent and who actually sent him.
But oddly, Obama didn’t have a plan. He let Senate and House staffers basically write the thing, and then tinker with it however needed to get it passed. If Obama saw it as such an important “mission” - why didn’t he have his own clear planks and positions in the so-called “Health Care Bill?”

What did Obamacare do to the economy? 90% of it doesn’t kick in until 2013.
