James Moss sentencing came after an emotional plea by his son, Christopher, 11, to spare his father jail time. "I just cant see my dad taken away from me," the little boy sobbed, reading a prepared statement to state Supreme Court Justice Robert J. Collini. "If hes not with me, Im nothing. Everybody in my family ... is giving him a second chance, will you?" This is so sad how this monster has psychologically twisted his son around so badly that he pleads to stay with the father even after the father did this. This judge made a bad, bad mistake. Seriously. Can't the judge see that the boy needs to be kept away from this monster?

“In a statement earlier this week, District Attorney Daniel Donovan called the incident “one of the most shocking and sadistic cases of child abuse I have ever prosecuted.”
Christopher suffered second- and third-degree burns on his hands, spatula marks on his back and scrapes on his knees, and needed to be placed on a morphine drip, prosecutors said.
In court papers, prosecutors said Moss attacked his son, then 9, because he believed the boy took $20 from his wallet. He said he wanted to teach Christopher a lesson.
The 6-foot-2, 270-pound Moss threatened to kill the boy, then took him to the basement, stripped him naked and ordered him back up to the kitchen, where he beat him in the back with a plastic spatula.
He turned on two oven burners, waited for them to heat up, then turned them off and held Christophers hands over them. He punched the boy in the face, and shoved him, still naked, in the oven and held the door shut.
He let the boy climb out several minutes later but locked him out of the house.
The boys sister finally convinced Moss to let him back in, but Moss told him to sit naked on the floor “like a dog” until his mother came home to put clothes on him and take him to a hospital, said prosecutors. “

Here, kid, read this to the judge at the sentencing or we’ll shove you in the oven and turn it on “High.”
The judge should have known better.

"This court feels compelled to temper justice with compassion," said the judge. If he honestly believed that, he would have had the boy removed from the court room and then personally shot the man in the back of the head.

In imposing sentence, Collini said he needed to balance the seriousness of the crime against other factors, including Christophers "powerful" statement in support of his father, the trauma the boy has already endured, and his mothers "strong desire" to keep the family intact. Un-freakin-believable. This judge can't see through how disfunctional the family is? The son's statement is evidence of how screwed up he is. The trauma the boy endured is due to the father. And the mother sounds like a classic co-dependent. The father probably beats her too. This judge should be impeached.

Abused children like that often plead for the very parents who abused them. It’s called Stockholm Syndrome.
It’s very common in the case of someone who is the child of a paranoid schizophrenic.

"He also said the hulking Moss had demonstrated "uninhibited remorse" and had only one prior arrest in 1975 for shoplifting."I wonder if his punishment was to be burned and thrown naked in the oven?

O'Reilly will probably go after this judge like a carp after a worm.
The Bloviator is completely screwed up on political stuff, but put an errant judge in his sights, he'll pull the trigger for both barrels.

That isn't a good weapon at all. Those nails are going to get caught up in bone and sinew. Instead simply wrap barbed wire around a bat. It's just as effective without any of the potentially back straining effort of pulling those nails free.
Barbed wired does get wrapped up in fabric so use caution.

This twisted creature cannot be called a "father". He was charged with shoplifting in '75. He believed his son took twenty bucks from his wallet.
So, he tortured the child for supposedly, allegedly, maybe......doing the same thing this sadist did himself years ago.

I would set a psychologist to really examine the heck out of the father, the boy and the wife before any sentence, and also insist on frequent follow up visits from the State child protective service.
I also suspect, as is pretty common today, that the family is under bad financial stress, so it would not be outrageous to require them to get financial counseling as well, to make sure that they are not going to crash and burn.
To: Opinionated Blowhard
The judge and the mother are idiots.
I hope the son makes it to 18 alive.
