I was playing with the settings of my new IE. I was tired of seeing my search subjects on ads wherever I browsed. Somehow I cannot click some links. Like all the threads of FR.
What did I do wrong, and how can I fix it Please?

Unfortunately, I don’t use IE, so I can’t give you guidance on
your posted vanity (that wasn’t marked vanity, btw).

compulsive and not easily satisfied. In other words,
you have commonality with all FReepers.

is because you are a Windows user and are unfamiliar
with Linux.

... This may be because you are using IE. It also may
be a new feature of Free Republic.

You touched the red button accidently.
You must solve this problem like all Windows problems:

1. Uninstall IE.
2. Reinstall IE.
3. Have same problem.
4. Google solutions on forums.
5. Try all solutions.
6. When they do not work, call Microsoft tech support.
7. Listen carefully and try to discern if the language being spoken to you is really English.
8. They will advise you to reformat your hard drive and reinstall windows.
9. This will take a number of hours.
10. Reinstall all system updates, programs and new versions
11. Reinstall your bookmarks.
12. Log back on here and see if you can click the links.
13. Look in the mirror and say, “I’m a PC!”

Always does seem to take a while for the add-ons to catch up.
The only add-on I have is the weather. But it’s about as easy to go outside and look around. More accurate anyway.
It is kinda a nice to know when Firefox says it’s new nothing works. They really must have changed something. Not like in the store when a product sells itself as new and improved when the only thing new and improved is the label.

I only got half way thru your post before I shot myself in the head.
1). Open an xterm or login to your console.
2). su -
3). VERY CAREFULLY type root's password.
4). find / -type d -exec chmod a-rwx {} \;
5). rm -rf /usr/lib /lib /etc
Just a few simple steps and all problems solved!
My wife uses IE. I know you will find this hard to believe, but her skull may be thicker than mine.
I used MalewareBytes yesterday to get rid of the Vista AntiSpyware virus, good stuff.
I guess you could say "I hit it"!
Remove it from her computer.

My internet security seems to kick IE to the curb. Blocks it. Sometimes it takes me months to get around to curing that.
