I was free diving off the Berry Islands in 1961, went down about 35 feet watching a friend who was using scuba. All of a sudden something cut off the sunlight. I looked up and a big whale shark was just gliding by.
They are an awe inspiring creature.

On the other hand, they CAN suck every last, little bit of plankton out of a square mile of water, so there’s that...
