BEIJING - A mixed group of Chinese and foreigners recently dined at a North Korean restaurant in the Chinese capital. Surveying the female waitresses, one Chinese guest remarked: "Wow - how beautiful! They all look like models!"
.... South Korea media often tout North Korean women as "natural beauties", comparing them favorably to women in the South who increasingly turn to plastic surgery. However, lately North Korean women seem to be catching up in the surgery stakes, with the North seeing a boom in various operations.
...."Upper eyelid surgeries and cosmetic tattoos on eyebrows, lips and the corners of eyes are widespread in North Korea," a source from Pyongyang was quoted as saying ....

A bit about the odd life of the North Korean. All we hear about are the camps, the starvation, and the military. But, apparently, life goes on for some, and this article gives an interesting if twisted insight into NK fashions. You can see how the Dear Reader affects things.
As for me, I think Asian women are beautiful without surgery. My son calls this "yellow fever."

Has anyone seen secret video smuggled out of North Korea? All of these tourists are stage managed by the regime, they see what Dear Leader wants them to see. These guys might be brought to a restaurant where they are the only customers it ever has.

I watched a documentary that was filmed inside NK and “under cover”. It was fascinating. Everything was staged but it was SOOOO obvious.
Like they’d be the ONLY ones in the bar and they acted like it was a random stop (their guide) yet the table was set for exactly the right number of them. The hotel was empty but they served food as if they were throwing a huge party, but they couldn’t eat that food—they were served same cheap stuff. And as they left the good food was collected and taken back to the kitchen area for storage.

Song clarified that plastic surgery was not affordable for everyone. "It was for very rich people, I mean, the families close to the leadership." Sounds familiar.

Although there are many beautiful Asian women, there are certainly just as many gorgeous western women, if you ask me.

I think that for many Western men, the perception, or the reality of Oriental women as submissive, subservient, the antithesis of the liberated feminazi in the west, greatly heightens the appeal.
My personal observation is that while some Oriental women are indeed stunning, the majority aren't.

exactly.
For NK to get a reputation for “beautiful women” in the SK press just shows how gullible people can be. Those people were all hand picked for those roles. Those are not real waitresses and stuff, they are party loyalists.

I would not use the term submissive and subservient. They embrace the traditional female role in society. In fact, in Eastern Asian countries such as Japan, women run the day-to-day affairs of the household.
Like twice on flights to from Tokyo/Taipei, I noticed that when the eldest sibling is a young lady, she takes over the responsibility of supervising the younger children and seeing that their needs are met.

LOLOLOLOL!!!
My Japanese boyfriend (in college) thought I was the most exotic woman in the world!
I had long legs, big bazooms, red hair, one blue eye and one green eye, and was covered in freckles.
You don’t find women like me in Asia.
