"The Undefeated" - now playing in limited release
(vanity)

Posted on 07/15/2011 1:56:15 PM PDT by Cringing Negativism Network

Independently produced Sarah Palin documentary "The Undefeated" is out - playing now in limited release today - just got back from watching it.

Don't want to spoil the ending for anyone, but ... if you admire *spectacular* panoramic cinematography of Alaska; if you like fiery pro-American speeches, the tea party, Ronald Reagan, Andrew Breitbart, Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce. Tea party rallies. Gratuitous Obama bashing. Heck, if you like FR.

If you were deeply inspired by Vice Presidential candidate Palin's acceptance speech...

This is digital distribution. There are no prints. AMC has about 5400 US screens. They frequently carve out a dozen or so in selected markets for various genre films.

For example, JS Media in Fort Lee, NJ has a deal with AMC to show Korean films on fourteen screens, located in the markets where there is a strong Korean population.

This looks like the same deal.

The distributor does not have a strong history of building from a small footprint to a significant one (say 500 screens). Goldwyn would have been better; look what they did with Facing the Giants and Fireproof.

The only thing that is going to stop people is this Carmaggedon thing my west coast contacts keep going on about. Hopefully people planned their travel plans around that.

That said, it is possible that the AMC theater in a neighboring suburb which showed "IOUSA" will likely show "The Undefeated." I hope so.

btw...you are misinformed about a standard distribution deal. The structure in the US is 50% of every box office goes to the exhibitor. The distributor then recoups 110-115% of all P&A costs out of the rest, then they're out. When this has been satisfied the production (studio) starts to recoup.

This is why it's so hard to make money. If a film cost $10 million and had $10 million in P&A (at 110%) the film would have to do $42 million just to break even out of Box Office receipts.

If the first two week-ends don’t see sold-out screens then do not expect too wide a distribution at all.

There is a report online that it played to a literally empty theatre - except for the reporter - in Orange, CA. Not that anyone but a rat would ever take CA again anyway...but still, you’d think people would be curious.

12:01 AM showing, competing against the midnight showing of the Harry Potter finale, in a deep blue area.

Not typical: and not "the final word" even for that theatre.

Cheers!

A 12:01 showing of the movie (if there was one) was not competing against anything.

It wasn't even billed.

First show was 10:15.

Agree with your comments.

Saw it this morning out in Ahwatukee, AZ. Sixty-five mile round trip for me and my lady. Would have been worth the drive at twice the distance. The film is as entertaining as it is informative, as uplifting as it is enraging. Uplifting because her story and her indominatble spirit is so utterly American; enraging because of the horrific injustice and calumny she's suffered at the hands of so many willing assassins from both sides of the political aisle. Breitbart’s rant against the GOP eunuchs near the close of the film was dead-on. Our audience was ,nodding clapping and fist-pumping in enthusiastic agreement.

The film is a revelation and I'm going to make it a mission to get all my Lefty friends (and a few misguided anti-Palin conservative ones as well) to see this movie.

Well I’m dang glad to hear the report is slanted because of the showing time - shoulda known.

Oh how I wish I could be there with you in Orange. I actually lived there when I was first married - on La Vita street - as I recall.

I am going to have to buy the DVD since there is probably no way it will come to the Northwest.

I’ve heard reports that at least two of the showings at Orange County sold out. (I’ve also heard of sell outs at Grapevine, TX and Highlands Ranch, CO).

Sorry, I should have included it in the first place - you must have it by now but just in case:

I’m glad to see that this was basically more dishonest reporting by the left.

take your left wing PR somewhere else. This was debunked as a leftist attempt to draw a headline. The lat night showing wasn’t advertised nor was it known.

could be. And if so then I'm sorry. but the attempt by the MSM to push this narrative is disgusting. It was a cooked up hit job. the movie showing was not advertised. In fact it looks like the “reporter” was the only one to know about it. And it is par for the course of what the MSM has done to Palin for the last 3 years. They can not defeat her on the truth so they make up crap and lie.

I’m also hearing sell outs in the New Mexico and Georgia locations.

I am hardly left wing - I was concerned that this apparently played to an empty theatre and happy that Freepers pointed out that the reporting was skewed.

I plan on buying the DVD - for $100 from SarahPAC because it will never show in the Northwest - at least as far as I know.

I plan on trying to guilt, shame or whatever I have to do to get the left wingers and undecideds I know to watch the DVD with me. I think at the very least they ought to see how badly the truth about Sarah has been manipulated.
