Any TX posters who might not want us "Yanks" moving into their states, just stop and think before you post.

My sister and I are the minority here and want out. Such is a move is extremely scary; however, I remember Rush talking about moving to another state to better one's life.

We are on the brink and no longer WANT to be here. We HATE NY and what it's become.

I don’t live in Texas, but moving out of New York was one of the best moves in my entire life. Trust me, you’re going to be even happier for it in the long run than you think.

I don't mind Yanks moving to Texas. I mind Yanks wanting to move here and then make it more like "back home". More so with the illegals. We like the way things are here just fine. You are welcome, just remember why you wanted to move here. Welcome to Texas!

I often see bumper stickers here that say "I wasn't born a Texan, but I got here as soon as I could".

For God's sake don't eat the chili.

I'm not a Texan but have spent enough time there to know what you're getting into. By your standards, it's hot, big, and really spread out. "Texas is a world all on its own / It takes a lifetime to drive from Eastland to Van Horne..." Just one suggestion - put getting a Texas license plate fairly high on your list. And lose the "I'm gay, I'm for Gore, and I'm here to take your guns" bumper sticker...

;-)

I left NY in 2000. I try not to go back for more than a week.

I will NEVER like in New York again. I despised Illinois. Georgia isn't bad, but it's getting blue-er. I might end up leaving America completely.

Is there a Texas ping list (I didn’t have one when I posted this vanity).

If there is, could someone please ping Texas for me? Thanks! =)

Houston is a vastly under-rated area. Find out where she is going to work prior to finding a place to live to save on commuting time. Housing is very affordable. It’s growing fast and nurses have no problem finding work.

We need all the good nurses we can get in Texas, especially if they are conservative. It is really hot and dry in Texas this particular summer but the spring and fall are spectacular and the winters are not bad at all.

Speakin' for myself as a native Texan I'll say this. I ain't got nothin' against "Yanks" movin' to Texas.....
Provided those "Yanks" are a hundred percent red blooded All American conservatives.....
I'll welcome y'all in a heartbeat....

I'll tell ya now what I'm sick and tired of.....
It's those damn yanks who come here to get away from liberal states and then bitch all day, everyday about how Texas should become more like their home state.....
I'm tried of those kind of "Yanks".....
I believe you'll find a lot of Texans who'll say the same as I have.....

Houston is much more liberal than Dallas/Ft. Worth. Houston has a lesbian mayor and a disastrous school system because most officials are affirmative action hires. Houston is a sanctuary city and there are many places where no one speaks English. Also the weather is disagreeable with heat and humidity most of the year and the occasional hurricane. We lived in Houston for five years and were happy to leave.

The D/FW Metroplex would be a better fit for conservatives relocating to our state. And at least there is some seasonal change in the weather there, though all of Texas is unbearably hot during our excessively long summers (end of April to November). Utility prices are obscene, but there is no state income tax, so it balances out.

Check out the College Station-Bryan area. Scott & White is building a huge new medical complex. It's 90 miles from Houston and geographically a lot more desirable than Houston, IMO...closer to Dallas, Austin, San Antonio. My guess is the pop. of the area is about 150,000 but it takes about 5 minutes to be very rural.

I don't live there but I visit there regularly and I love it . A lot of people I know would love to move there if they could get rid of the baggage they have where they live.

I can’t go back.

If you love heat and humidity, you will love Houston.

Lots of Katrina evacuees there also, so choose wisely where you decide to move to.

A possibility to consider:

“The American Redoubt” (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, eastern halves of Oregon and Washington states) More at site.

http://www.survivalblog.com/redoubt.html

The American Redoubt — Move to the Mountain States

Recognizing both the fact that “all politics are local”, and the international readership of SurvivalBlog, I naturally de-emphasize politics in my blog. However, a recent article got my blood boiling: Motorists illegally detained at Florida tolls - for using large bills! So, not only are Federal Reserve Notes not redeemable “on demand” for specie, but effectively they are now no longer “...legal tender for all debts public and private.” It is often hard to pinpoint a breaking point—the proverbial “straw that broke the camel’s back”—as impetus for a paradigm shift, but reading that news article was that last straw for me. Consider my paradigm fully shifted. I’m now urging that folks Get Out of Dodge for political reasons—not just for the family preparedness issues that I’ve previously outlined. There comes a time, after a chain of abuses when good men must take action. We’ve reached that point, folks!

Voting With Our Feet

I concur that Pastor Chuck Baldwin was right when he “voted with his feet” and moved his family from Florida to Montana. Like Chuck Baldwin I believe that is time for freedom-loving Christians to relocate to something analogous to “Galt’s Gulch” on a grand scale.

Ol’ Remus of The Woodpile Report recently quoted an essay by economist Giordano Bruno, titled The Return Of Precious Metals And Sound Money. In it, Bruno stated: “If there is anything good to come out of our present predicament, it is that Americans, from average citizens to elected officials, are beginning to understand the reality of coming collapse and are preempting it with measures designed to insulate their communities from the inevitable firestorm. Eventually, as this movement escalates, certain states will come out ahead of the pack, gaining a kind of “safe haven” status, and attracting liberty minded people from around the country to the protective shelter of their borders.”

Giordano Bruno identified a trend that has been developing informally for many years: A conscious retrenchment into safe haven states. I strongly recommend this amalgamation, and that it be formalized. I suggest calling it The American Redoubt. I further recommend Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, eastern Oregon, and eastern Washington for the réduit. Some might call it a conglomeration, but I like to call it an amalgamation, since that evokes silver. And it will be a Biblically-sound and Constitutionally-sound silver local currency that will give it unity.”

Houston is hot, humid, large, and mostly lib.

But ... you’re near the coast and not a far stretch for visiting New Orleans for an occasional getaway. Excellent beaches are just a bit further into Alabama.

Suburbs of Houston are going to be more conservative. I’d recommend Katy, Conroe, The Woodlands, or Sugarland.

Positives: It’s Texas. It’s not NY. Texas is conservative. Proximity to the Gulf.

Negatives: Large city. Liberal (but not as much as Austin). The occasional hurricane. And as mentioned ... hot and humid.

NY is NOT a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
so she will have to go to a state that is(NH, RI) to take that state’s Nursing Exam and then she can practice in 26 states(for info see/https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm).

I’m a Texan, but I live 400 miles North of Houston. Austin is very liberal, and from what I’ve heard, Houston is fairly liberal too. Sheila Jackson Lee is from Houston after all.

Having said that, there are tons and tons of Conservatives there too. I suppose like the rest of the country, once you get into a big city, you’re gonna have the lib elemenent more so than if you live in a smaller town or the boonies.

One thing you won’t get here in Texas, is 4 seasons. You’ll have 2, Summer and Winter. Fall and Spring last about a week each. It’s a bit cooler in Houston than in N. Tx but the humidity is higher. :)

Lots of murders in Houston. Mexicans are taking over the state. Austin is super liberal but has good food and music n

Weather is super hot. State is huge and takes hours and hours to get to the major city. Traffic is a bitch.

See it all getting worse over the next 10-20 years.

Avoid border states. Live in low crime, low democrat area. Moderate weather. Low taxes. Texas ain’t the place. She’d also need to learn Spanish.

One more thing .... You'll be required to drop this for this , or at least this

And one thing that will absolutely not be allowed is this ... for any reason.
