Casey Anthony Live Trial Thread, Day 44 (7/01/11)
Free Republic | July 1, 2011 | truthkeeper

Posted on 07/01/2011 5:02:44 AM PDT by truthkeeper

Good morning to all.

I thought I would get this thread up bright and early so I could concentrate on work until the trial begins. I believe it starts at 9:00 a.m. today.

The State is presenting its important rebuttal case, which will include two Gentiva representatives, one of which will likely be a custodian of records. That person would need to authenticate Cindy's time sheets, which were subpoenaed. The State plans to admit that evidence to impeach her testimony that it was she, and not Casey, who did the computer searches on chloroform. The chloroform searches go directly to premeditation, a critical element in a death penalty case.

I understand that closing arguments will be heard Saturday (tomorrow) and then the jury will "get deliberated." (I love saying that!)

Time to put on a big pot of coffee...

“”I think the FL attorney you are thinking of is Stacy Honowitz (I probably spelled her name all wrong).””

That’s it and I think I would have spelled it the same way. She’s pretty vocal but she’s very confident in her comments so I choose to believe she knows what she’s talking about.

While we’re on the subject, can anyone tell me why the prosecution in this case is referred to as “State’s Attorneys” and not District Attorneys or Deputy DA’s?
I know the state brings the case but the County DA’s office usually prosecutes. Are these attorneys from the Orange County DA’s office or from the State of FL???

Wish I’d found these threads 4 weeks ago and I could have asked that pesky question then and put a stop to just wondering about it.

I can’t answer your other questions but I wanted to add that I just saw Stacy Honowitz on TV last night. I believe it was on HLN’s Dr. Drew Show. Dr. Drew is on vacation and Vinnie Polatano (sp?) has been sitting in for him.

They cuffed her when Cindy called them to her House Right away. But it was for stealing the car and using Cindys credit card. Then they uncuffed her and started the interrogation about Caylee. They never charged the car theft or Credit card to try and avoid Miranda.

I will send you a summary if you still want, but you really should watch the latter parts of today's testimony. It was devastating to the defense's attempts at reasonable doubt. The prosecution just wiped it all away today with their rebuttal witnesses. If you can watch it tonight or tomorrow, go to this link:

Look for day 44, and watch the parts you missed.

Very brief summary: Cindy lied about searches, she was at work. No one searched for bamboo, dogs, or chlorophyll. Someone did search for chloroform, how to make chloroform, and neck breaking. Another motion for mistrial was denied.

I agree I think she practiced on the pets. I thought I heard Cindy say they buried one pet that was the mother of another pet they owned and a year later buried the other pet. I found it odd that the other younger dog died so close to the older dog.

“”but Baez is an idiot that allowed Casey to make a ridiculous defense that had no merit.””

Brings back to my mind something that Bernie Grimm said on Greta last night - you defend your client to the best of your ability but you DO NOT GO TO TRIAL with stories/lies that your client has fed you.

The prosecution attorneys represent the State of Florida from the DISTRICT of Orange County, thus the name District Attorney’s office.

I believe Casey was first cuffed at her house because the original call to 911 was accusing her of theft. When the second call came in as a missing child and other officers arrived, they had the officer uncuff her. She was NOT cuffed in regard to the missing child

I don’t remember anything about Cindy’s car being stolen but I’ll take your word for it. It wasn’t in the phone calls while she was trying to find the right place to take Casey that night when she was told to go home and wait for the police to show up. I do remember the bit about Casey using her mother’s credit card which I thought was a “crock”....How could THAT have been news to her? Did she take her mother’s car? I sure missed that.

I’ve read through lots of transcripts of depositions online and the credit card makes as much sense as a deposit of $4400 that Casey repaid to Cindy’s account and Cindy wrote checks on it BELIEVING the money was really in her account! Guess she didn’t even wonder where her daughter would have gotten $4400 to deposit. George took the deposit slip to Cindy and told her it wasn’t a valid deposit slip.

After today, we no longer need to wonder about Cindy’s truthfulness.....

The cops first came to the house when Cindy called them. Cindy told the Cops she wanted to press charges for Casey stealing the White Pontiac they were letting her use and running up her credit card without permission. The Cops cuffed Casey on the spot. Cindy is up to her ears in this too. She lied knowing she would get caught. I even think Ashton may have been in on it. If no charges are filed against her that will be a tell. Anyway after a while the cops uncured Casey and started interrogating her about Caylee without ever giving her the Miranda. Cuffing is detention.

“”So, I heard someone earlier that said no matter what, no mother who lost her child by any means would go on with life as though nothing ever happened unless she was involved in why the child is no longer here.

bottom line in this case””

Has anyone ever seen Casey cry over the loss of Caylee? Not once - in all the photos taken when they took her out of her parent’s home or any other time. She cried ONLY when she knew she was on camera in the jail - but I don’t think those were tears for Caylee....

Kind of makes me wonder if she would have been a serial killer if she hadn’t gotten caught on this one.

“”The prosecution attorneys represent the State of Florida from the DISTRICT of Orange County, thus the name District Attorney’s office.””

That was my question. Why are they NOT referred to as the Distict Attorney or Deputy District Attorneys? Why are they referred to as State’s Attorneys?

The State of CA brought charges against OJ, Scott Petersen and other notable characters but the prosecution team was never referred to as State’s Attorneys....The prosecution took place FROM the District Attorney’s office.

Are the prosecutors in the Anthony case from the District Attorney’s office or from the State’s Attorney’s office?

Found the video posted on another web site. The one I saw on WFTV earlier today IS the same as the one you are describing. The announcer on HLN said she was 10 years old in the video and that’s where the confusion got started.

WFTV says in the link below that she is 5 years old in the video.

HOME VIDEO: 5-Year-Old Casey Anthony
Home video of Casey Anthony in 1991 was obtained by WFTV, courtesy of Anderson Cooper’s show AC360. (07/01/11)

IMO there is something wrong with her even at the age of 5. She looks very unhappy for the most part and her eyes are very cold. She lacks any of the animation seen in Caylee’s many videos.

The game was over before the trial started. The only way for Casey to have won the game was to not play it. She picked Baez because he was willing to put on the defense she wanted. Her defense was brilliant. It was the only possible defense. Her mother put the Kibosh to it. Baez looked the gift horse in the mouth. Her Mother knew she would get caught in the lies when she told them.

Gosh, you should call Baez and tell him you figured it all out - all of the police officers involved were less knowledgable than you regarding Miranda; all of the attorneys and judges involved are less aware than you and almost every tv attorney is less knowledgeable than you. Quick, call Jose!
