Me too. My kids go to a Church where they did this last year and are planning on another next month. Great way to reach the local community and to offer the gift of Christs Salvation that is “Free for All”!

We have free toys for Christmas. All anyone has to do is come and carry away the new toys, jewelry, gifts, the child can pick our their toy. Our benevolence provides aid for utility bills when needed, they drive up in new or near new trucks, vehicles and they say they do no have money to pay the light bill or water, heat, etc. .
This program is worked regularly by some people. There is a record kept and churches have web sites to keep track of who, when, and how, often people are coming in for aid.
We give whole stocks for meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas, providing everything considered to be for special meals. Only to find out they are getting these from several churches and selling the frozen turkeys, to others etc.
There is a monthly collection of foods for the poor, given to the food distribution center.
We have a crisis center filled with quality clothing lightly used or worn. Few people use it when we consider the number of the so called poor. The poor women come in with cell phones, iPhones, artificial nails and dressed to the nines often. They wear clothing until they are stiff and then cast them away. They are their own worst enemy.
It is hard to help some people, their pride keeps them away.
Our missionaries make several yearly usual trips to Mexico, and several other foreign nations. It is too dangerous now to cross the border to Mexico.
It seems druggies can't or won't be helped ... they come and appear to get on the right track, work a job found for them and in a few weeks disappear and leave the job, etc. Very sad.
We give older cars donated to the church, to those without transportaion, but they then need a repair and there is no money for repair. Many many good ideas and programs, only the really poor are usually poor because of how they spend their income, and they are not interested in learning how to change.
There are numerous churches with excellent help for the needy people of this city. Rather like the homeless seem to not want or welcome a place to live. Strange and sad.
Very Sad, especially for the children.
