Thank you mayor for the excellent devotional today.

There is much that concerns me in regard to this complete obliteration of the cross from society and even churches, no prayer now in Arlington cemetery, without a written request to be considered for a funeral or burial service. We are destroying America and our very foundations. YET, immorality is rampant, abortion is treated as if it were a form of birth control only.

The split that has developed between the liberals and the conservatives has taken on a militant air that almost exudes hate from the left to the right. By and large conservatives that hold to a higher standard do compromise based on love of our fellow man: it works against us every time because they simply push harder for the next thing. Same sex marriage for instance. They have been free to live together, they can leave their assets to each other, etc. But no they want to change and destroy the family foundations too.

We must hold the line for our time and pass on to the next generation a free society, and do our best to push back the unions, and the tyranny that has pushed through the doors of America.

Father God help us to serve thee today, forgive us our trespasses, and help us to restore America to our former faith in Thee, in Jesus name, amen.

We are in a severe drought in West Texas and in this area it has not rained since last September 2010. We are on a reduced water rationing, our reservoir is low and not being recharged either, 2 additional lakes are already almost totally dry. . This whole area is a tender box outside and many fires just outside of towns and cities have been very serious.

We need the Word of God just like we need rain. Without it be become weak and parched, and overcome with our needs for it.

We must drink from the living word in order to fight the wiles of Satan. Our society is immoral and our children are exposed to many worldly ideas. Are we throwing them to the wolves? When we allow the evil of this life to shape them that is a real danger.

Father God help us, we trust thee and love thee, forgive us our sins and we ask forgiveness and mercy. Help us Father, we can do nothing without thee. In Jesus name, amen. MO.

Independence Day
Independence Day is the celebration of adoption of the Declaration of Independence. It was written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by the Second Continental Congress - July 4, 1776. This statement gave the colonies freedom from Great Britain. Independence Day was first observed in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776. In 1941, Congress declared July 4 a federal legal holiday.

Betsy Ross sewed the first American flag. It is not clear who actually designed it, but the experts at the Betsy Ross House suggest it was Francis Hopkinson, a New Jersey delegate to the Continental Congress and a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

The Liberty Bell sounded from the tower of Independence Hall on July 8, 1776, summoning citizens to gather for the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon.

June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress, looking to promote national pride and unity, adopted the national flag. “Resolved: that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.”

The origin of Uncle Sam probably began in 1812, when Samuel Wilson was a meat packer who provided meat to the US Army. The meat shipments were stamped with the initials, U.S. Someone joked that the initials stood for “Uncle Sam”. This joke eventually led to the idea of Uncle Sam symbolizing the United States government.

The Star Spangled Banner - The American Soldier

While the British attacked Fort McHenry in 1814, Francis Scott Key watched from a British war ship. When the smoke cleared and Old Glory was still there, Key wrote the words to what was to become our national anthem.

Things were sure poppin’ in my neighborhood last night. I’m guessin’ it will be even more so tonight!

Our street is all decked out in Red, White and Blue. A permit was issued to block off the street today for our giant block party.

American flags are flying all over the place.

An inflatable water slide is standing tall in a neighbor’s yard. Picnic tables rest under tents awaiting the big BBQ.

I think I’m gonna break out in singing our National Anthem at some point this afternoon.

Fireworks will brighten the evening skies.

Happy 4th of July. Happy Birthday USA!!! May God continue to bless this great nation!
