Well, bleep you Tom Petty, you no-talent ass clown, and the horse you rode in on. I'll do your request one better. I'll never play ANY of your songs ever again.

Petty backed down to the Socialist movement within the U.S. and all the hatred, bigotry and intolerance that accompanies that horrible culture.

Just think, Heart could’ve re-ignited their careers by allowing Governor Palin to use “Barracuda” - but no. The highlight of their careers now is a mop company using “What about love” on TV commercials. Stay classy, girls.

It is simply embarassing when conservatives do this to themselves.

Even if the music is public domain, just assume that EVERYONE in the music field is a flaming lib, and will deny a conservative the use of their song. If they’re looking for music, try some Christian group or someone with a show out of Branson,MO.

Or go with a Ted Nugent song.

But knock it off with this popular crap - these musicians HATE us, and will NEVER allow the use of their music. And even if there’s a legal right to use it, the artist will come out and bash the candidate anyway, leading to further humiliation.

Absolutely. He certainly should donate his work to candidates he does not like.

I'm sure you'll be donating your own more popular music for her use.

What tunes would those be exactly?

They must be well known, given that you can call Petty untalented.

Got list?

Considering Petty hasn’t had a hit song in a couple of decades, the exposure might give his long-since-deceased career a boost.

Of Course. Saw this from a mile when I heard the song on the news. All these idiot musicians have something against conservatives. Chrissy Hyde sued Limbaugh over the theme. SO he payed up. John Mellencamp didn’t want McCain playing his song in 08. Other people ranted in the past. Losers.

If you wish to use a song, you contact the Publisher and purchase a LICENSE to play the song in Public. if Michele played this song at a rally, she BOUGHT the Right to do so. Tom is being petty.

I have no problem with what Tom Petty wants and I agree that he's a no-talent clown and a jerk. A producer of a product or service should be able to select his customer base for any reason whatsoever. A free, unfettered market allows such liberty to both the consumer (boycotts) and to the purveyors (selection).

But the liberals would scream bloody murder if a business were to "discriminate" against, say, sodomites. Freedom-depriving inventions such as the "Fair" Housing Act fly in the face of liberty. If I were to have rental property, I would no more want to have it occupied by a sodomite than Tom Petty wants his music used by Conservatives.

The problem is that Tom Petty gets praised for his "principles" and I'd get thrown in the slammer for my freedom of choice based upon principle.

We went through this the last time. Screw their songs and I hope it hits them in the pocketbook.

GOP candidates, just play songs that are American. Believe me, these old farts need your money to stay afloat.

Otherwise nobody pays any attention to them.

I am pragmatic in this respect, I would take what I can get. LOL

She should adopt a Casting Crowns song “Until the Whole World Hears”. That would cause the liberals’ heads to explode.

Petty has a lot of talent and I enjoyed his role as Dam Master in the Postman. Unfortunately he also did this to Dubya when Dubya tried to use “I Won't Back Down.”

demanding that she never use his song "American Girl" at campaign events again.

I suspect Petty actually wants Bachmann to play that classic song as much as possible. He just wants to get paid for it.

In the eighties, I often found myself amazed at how many of my fellow musicians were very left-leaning. Not all, certainly, but a lot were. Go figure. With regard to Mrs. Bachmann, there are conservative musicians out there. The first that comes to mind would be Vince Furnier - Alice Cooper. He’s a registered Republican, last I heard. There are others, too. Just as Jon Voight isn’t the only good guy in Hollywood, there are musical folks out there. A better idea, though, might be for her to find a few musicians and just write her own theme song. Then there aren’t any rights issues. Yes, it’s more difficult, but at least it avoids this sort of silliness. Just a thought. ;)
