Get your iron checked if you have leg cramps. That is one of the symptoms of anemia.

I may not have the same kind of leg cramps that you are talking about but I have figured a way to prevent mine. My legs cramp only happen when I stretch my legs with my toes pointed. If I can remember to bring my toes up and stretch my heel down, my leg cramps don't happen. I was laying on my side with my legs bent backward at the knees and I stretched in that position.......WOW I got a cramp in my thigh that almost made me call for the paramedics!

Hmmm...this explains why my wife put four bars of Ivory Soap in her side of the bed by her legs every night for a couple of months!
(I have learned not to ask about certain things...)
Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) can be curiously linked in combination with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Quite a combo!
BTW, cogentin is what the docs give to offset extrapyramidal symptoms for nighttime restlessness from some drugs.

calcium supliments do it for me about 1200 mg at night.

Now let me see if I've got this straight...you stick a bar of soap UNDER your sheet and it takes away leg cramps?
Or am I reading this wrong?

It sounds like you may have Restless Leg Syndrome. The soap in bed remedy is an old home remedy for RLS. RLS is caused by a magnesium deficiency. Go to the drugstore and buy a Calcium, Magnesium & Zinc Combo supplement. The one I use is made by Finest Natural (at Walgreens). The breakdown is Cal 333mg, Mag 133mg and Zinc 5mg. The combo of the three assists in absorption of the Magnesium. Straight Mag does not do as good a job, and will give you wicked gas. I take 6 as needed (when my legs are restless) and get immediate relief. Within short time (20-40 minutes) my symptoms disappear. When I first started taking this I needed nightly for about a week. Now I only take it when I get that feeling, which is only about once a week. Also if you take it with water it will act faster. Good luck!

That’s usually caused by low Potassium or Magnesium.

If you try the banana route, eat the banana: don’t put it under your sheets. The latter method would attract ants and might raise suspicions about your nocturnal activities.

Try a 2 month supply of liquid chlorophyll for $8. Take a little in juice, is harmless.
Know it stops leg cramps or cramps from vigorous exercise. Could help here and doesn’t do anything but good to try it.

If you don't like that big lump by your legs, just take a knife, stand the bar of soap on edge and slice it in half or thinner, if you can.
I usually just get a knife and stab the cramping leg.
Repeatedly.
That'll teach 'em!

If you get a leg cramp or charlie horse, roll your bottom lip outwards as hard as you can, it will make the cramp subside. Don't ask me how or why but it works, old Chinese remedy.

Had way too frequent intances of 'nocturnal leg cramping' and heard about
this.
I Bought it, have used it, and it absolutely does work!

I have used a small pillow to the same effect, (a) if I manage to fall asleep while lying flat on my back and (b) if I stay that way until I wake up.
If I can't fall asleep while lying flat on my back, or if I do but toss and turn in the night, to where the lump under the sheet is no longer in the same position relative to my legs, then it does not work; at least I think it doesn't.
The problem is that even though I do suffer from leg cramps at night, it is a sometimes thing and seldom recurring night-after-night in a long string of nights. So, sometimes, when I try a new solution, which I have from time to time, the “good” night could just be one of those nights that was going to be good anyway. I can never be sure.

Most likely, you are simply dehydrated. Drink more water. Since most people are deficient in magnesium, that might be part of the problem. The body’s true Mg levels will not show up in a blood test, so it’s very safe to supplement with 400mg of magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate... do not use magnesium oxide. As for potassium deficiency, that might be the culprit, but it’s much easier to drink more water and to supplement with Mg.
To: RetSignman
Or you can take a potassium pill with a large glass of water.
