FROM CNN's Jack Cafferty:
While America's fixating on numbers from President Obama in his speech tonight on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, like how many troops are coming home and by when, the president and his re-election team are probably stuck on a very different set of figures.
For example, 43 percent, the president's daily job approval rating according to Gallup. It's been moving down this week. And 49 percent, the percentage of Americans who disapprove of the job he is doing. They aren't very good numbers.
Here's another number that's probably going to keep the Obama reelection campaign awake at night: 30 percent. That's the very small percentage of Americans who say they are certain they would vote to re-elect President Obama come next November. And 36 percent, the percentage who say they definitely won't cast a vote for four more years of his presidency. These stats come from a new Bloomberg National Poll. Here's one more from the same poll, maybe the worst one of all: 66 percent of Americans think the country is on the wrong track.
It's a tight spot for President Obama to be in. So much of his sinking poll numbers has to do with the economy and the lack of real recovery we've seen during his term. But it also has to do with the four wars we are fighting and the nation's growing deficit too.
What it doesn't have much to do with is Obama's potential Republican opponents. No one in that lackluster field is really getting the voting population excited. And that might be the only thing that's keeping the president in the 2012 race at this point.

If the GOP nominates a RINO they lose.
If the Left manages to sabotage the Republican primaries by massive cross voting and we get the Romney for Republican nominee then it doesn't much matter how low the kenyans's approval rating goes. He will win again, whichever is elected President.
Sure he can.
It just means that many more votes the DemocRATS need to steal and intimate away from their opponents.

How is it above 40% now?? Really who would support that pathological LIAR, besides people that are worse?
With vote fraud any democrat can win; Harry Reid, Stewart Smally, John McCain.....
At this point a can of rancid sardines can beat Obama.
Remember something, this election isn’t just about Obama. Palin did something everyone seen but no one quite understands, Palin put the MSM in the spotlight. She exposed their bias.
If the MSM tries to steal the election like in 2000 and 2004, people are going to demand their heads. And that is what we need to focus on.
Just like the Longest Yard, Pop the ref in the nads a couple of times, he’ll call a fair game.
and that’s how Obama wins. Rats back a 3rd party candidate that has Rino credentials.
Just remember that the worst of the democrats control the ballot box by illegal means.
It depends on which polls are used to define the Obama presidency.
If the polls only queiry liberal-Democratic strongholds and their opinions Obama looks like the next savior, and is re-elected easily. On the other hand if the polls only queiry conservative-Republican strongholds Obama apears a socialist usurper, and loses in what accounts for a landslide.
Its the middle where the fight occurs. It always was and always will be.
We can not hope to say conservatives are on the side of the middle. We can only hope that we can provide leadership and a sharp distinction to the middle.
And they will be a major hinderance to any Republican administration.
It’s possible. Dead people don’t respond to polls, but they have been known to vote.
Jack Acidly weighs in.
He’s hoping for a bounce from the anti-war left (mostly) in the polls but those people are going to vote for Obama anyway so, while it may move some of his numbers, it won’t largely help his re-election chances.
But also keep in mind the presidency is 51 elections, not one so raw percentages are meaningless until you break them down state by state. Way too early to focus on that yet.
The 45% is on;y in the first 50 states. In the other seven he is tail over heels at 87% don’tchaknow.
From the article: “No one in that lackluster field...”
Granted. The Republican field isn’t as strong as I’d like, but compared to President Obama and his neo-Marxist administration, I’d crawl over broken glass to elect any one of the current crop of Republicans, including Romney. As bad as Romney is, he’s no anti-American Marxist. This is about national survival, not a stupid popularity contest.
I still think he’ll win.
Remember - stopping vote fraud is racist!
If necessary Obama will give all illegals citizenship and immediate welfare with an executive order. 100 million more votes right there.
He also may get each and every welfare recipient to go and actually vote with his new motto “If you don’t vote for me you won’t get your free stuff!”
Candidates have proven they can buy a vote with a pack of cigarettes.
