IMHO people are somewhat timid recently.

I think there was shock that Obama could actually win, and what is happening now is a lack of confidence on how to beat the left.

The way to beat the left is to be more in-their-face and a bit less dignified. More Alinsky.

It is what it is - things change - life goes on - nothing is ever perfect or what we may want it to be. So what of it? Is the glass half full or half empty? To me it seems half full. If there is a better conservative website, I have yet to find it.

Don’t know if anyone mentioned a legendary Freeper Mr. Confettiman. Dude used to protest solo outside the clinton WH and later on was joined by many others. I think he lost a battle with brain cancer. Amazing individual. Very unassuming person as well.

I'll meet you at the McDonald's by the capital building 9:00 Am Monday.

I will have a semi truck load of hot tar if you bring the feathers and the large mob we're in business.

I have been of FR for maybe 10 years. I can recall when several of the administrators would ban you if you spoke out against Rinos, or even supported conservatives too strongly.

Fortunately that has changed and for the better.

A lot more people here.

What would we run full page ads about?

Consensus is gone in the republican party.

Jim Robinson has done a great job in preserving this
site as a place for conservatives without swaying from the classic definition of conservative.

There is a lot of vetting going on of the candidates. I don't understand people seeing that as division.

Free Republic is an incredible site. Best on the Web.

It's simple, clean, uncomplicated format beats anything out there.

But where it really shines is the people who frequent here. I have never seen so many intelligent and insightful people gathered in one place before. Is and has always been that way.

One change I've noticed over the years is a greater number of liberal threads and less conservative ones. If fact, almost any dumb thing a liberal says gets reported here as if it was news. I don't pay attention to the lamestream media in any form, and yet, I hear all their stupid crap here. Used to be a site for better picking up conservative viewpoints and discussions. As an example, look at all the Weiner posts. That's not worthy news in the world we live in today. It deserves a mention and is good for a few laughs but other than that it's drivel.

Free Republic, like all things in life, follows the 80-20 rule. Twenty percent of the folks always do 80 percent of the work. Here, the 20 percent who make this such a superior site, are truly incredible. The eighty percent who take up most of the space, aren't worth the time.

One of the good things about this place is that you do get to fight about your opinions and beliefs. It's not a place for the timid. But it's a great place to cure sloppy thinking.

Even here, though, there is no cure for stupid. Best thing to do is if you find yourself arguing with a fool, is to make sure he isn't doing the same thing.

We all need better education in many areas and you can learn a lot here. Sometimes you have to realize that your position is indefensible, your presentation is inaccurate and your mouth is exposing how little you know. And a few freepers are overly generous in exposing your weakness. And it hurts. And it pisses you off.

So what. It's all just words. Even in the really big battles here, no one dies.

Free Republic is a hoot. And though I have not made any friends here, I have encountered many that I look up to and enjoy. Actually, Free Republic itself is my friend. And until I finally get booted off, will remain so.

I wasn’t arund back in the beginning.I don’t think I found this place until sometime after 9/11 and then spent a few years just reading without commenting.I love it here it lets me know that that there are other people who feel the same way that I do about the way our country is being decimated by the powers that be.

Prayer has replaced action.

Rather than act, prayers go up, there is mental action and a self pat on the back for doing something constructive. Real activity beyond arms length or requiring a contribution of talent or money to the FReep de jour is thus not required.

Personal activity and responsibility is thus abrogated.

FR is my “morning newspaper”. I wake up an hour earlier each day to see what I’ve missed while sleeping and having my morning coffee.

When I get home, I hop on again to see what I’ve missed through out my work day.

My days off, well, I probably spend most of my time on FR...I know, total loserville. I’m fine with that.

But FR is the only place to get a “full” story. FReepers have to post anywhere from 3-6 different reports, on the same story, to get an almost “full picture”.

When I first joined serious, thought provoking discussion was the norm. Now many posts are simple and mindless. Major news may not get many replies but a thread on whether a woman is attractive is popular. It’s a trend happening for years unfortunately.

On the bright side we no longer have to worry about turning off tags so an entire thread is in "Italians" or all CAPS with everyone screaming for the miscreant to fix it.

Ash Alert!
