What a stupid move I made! I installed Internet Explorer 9 this morning. I tried it for a full day and got rid if it. Don't be as stuipd as I was, don't install it when asked to "upgrade"!

Some people might laugh but I can still remember using Internet Explorer 1.0 back in the mid-1990s. That was back when Netscape Navigator was the dominant browser.

Those were good days. I remember a lot of people back then saying that the Internet was just a fad and that it would never catch on.

I upgraded and found IE9 to be fast both in startup and rendering. It can be modified to look just like 8 by turning on the various tool bars. The pin feature is very useful . I used to get Explorer stopped working messages in 8, they are almost non existent since I upgraded to 9.

Well:

-the OP should know better then to install M$ when it first comes out, buggier then a house in the swamps of Louisiana.

-Chrome is leaky, as in I make it a practice to not use my legal name online unless I absolutely must use it, used Chrome for a time on a site that required my real name, that does not sell information (State Website)did not have to use my Email Address on that site, when lo and behold guess what shows up in my spam box that week?

Why a sales pitch with my legal name of course, out went Chrome and it never happened again.

Sorry to hear you had a hard time with IE9.

I still have a number of WinXP boxes so I have to stick with IE8 on those, and it's not worth having some IE8 and some IE9 (the Win7 boxes). Truth to tell, I've been overall pleased with IE8 (for those times when I use IE; FF3 is the default browser on most of my machines) although it's hardly a speed demon.

I upgraded to IE9 to see if it was as good as Fire Fox. I thought it was an improvement over IE8. They moved all the buttons around, which is annoying, but it felt faster and more stable.

What exactly was the problem?

I don’t use my Internet Explorer 9 (Prefer Fire Fox, Google Chrome and Safari). After reading this post I decided to uninstall mine. It took 30 minutes. That’s a long time to uninstall a program.

I have 8 Gigs of RAM and a Intel Core i5 Chip. Microsoft probably does it this way on purpose so we do not do it. At any rate, thanks for the reminder. It’s now officially gone.

How bad is it? IE9 is so bad it makes Windows 2000 Addition and Vista look good!

All the stuff I've read says IE9 is the first modern browser MS has put out. But I've yet to try it (I refuse to upgrade my Windows boxes to Windows 7). I have Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera on my Mac. I generally use Firefox.

It seems the uptake of IE9 has been less than spectacular ...

ars technica

I wonder how much better IE9's adoption would be if it ran in XP? Given the other browsers all run just about everywhere, I lack the motivation to find out.

I’ve found it solid and fast.

But I prefer Firefox for the add-ons.

That's been my experience as well; it seems like a decent browser, but FF was there a long time ago (as was Opera), and since I've already spent a lot time getting FF to where I want it, I really don't see the point in shifting everything back over to IE9.

This is why MS should not have left IE so non-compliant with standards for so long: by the time they try to catch up, it's too late; that horse fled the barn years ago.

In terms of people who are having problems, it is quite possible that the upgrade installation is not fitting in well with your particular system, particularly if you've made extensive customizations to it. You might try uninstalling the upgrade, then downloading the IE9 installer manually and installing it that way.

I don’t want to start a pissing match but why don’t you like it. I did the same a few months ago and LOVE it. You just have to find where all the missing stuff is. It IS there you just have to know where.

No disagreement there, although IMO better than 7.. but IE9 really doesn’t suck IMHO..i haven’t switched from FF yet but I am tempted too since I use it at work and have grown to appreciate it more.

I run several browsers

In Vista I have:

SeaMonkey (a Firefox browser)
Firefox
Chrome
and
IE9

They all work great

Windows 7

SeaMonkey (a Firefox browser)
Firefox
Chrome
and
IE9

They all work great.

I like SeaMonkey because it has a built in e-mail reader and has a portable version that I can run off a thumbdrive. But, have yet to have a problem with IE9

I have tried IE, Firefox and Chrome. BTW....many flavors of Linux and run multiple systems.

1. Chrome
2. Firefox
3. IE <-—— May never use it again

I have talked many of my friends and relatives into using Chrome and they all say that they love it and many did not even know that they had an option.

Wow, step back here. IE9 is Internet Explorer 9. It is NOT Firefox.

I installed IE9 as well. So far my only problem is my churches website has the services on their website and because you need a different flash player for IE9 I cant watch the worship services. Otherwise I’m OK with it.
