HOQUIAM, Wash. Police say a man was carrying a dead weasel when he burst into an apartment and assaulted a man in Washington state.
The victim asked, "Why are you carrying a weasel?" Police said the attacker answered, "It's not a weasel, it's a marten," then punched him in the nose and fled.

Yes, we do have air conditioning. It can get over 100 degrees in the house without it. My grandmother kept a hot-plate on the porch in Missouri, to boil water when it was too hot in the house. Dad made her get a big window unit, which cooled most of the mail floor, in the 1980s, but she would get up at night and turn it off if he turned it on! She kept cool by sleeping in the cellar.

“Main floor.” Difficult to see with the sun coming in the windows behind me.

That's how we do it.
Bedrooms in the basement, cook on the BBQ, and put the toaster oven and kettle on the balcony if necessary. We don't get much higher than 85-90 in the house, but we do have high humidity.

I usually keep the ac at 80. With fans ;-), it’s more than comfortable, and keeps the electric bill reasonable. When it’s not high summer, I’ll open the windows over night wait until the house hits 85 or so to close up. However, the house is designed to maintain its temperature, so unless it’s windy, you don’t get much cooling at night until the temperature falls below 60.

This goes under “Good thing Pat doesn’t read FR.”
DP has taken some of the kids to the pool, while I cleaned up supper. It sounds like Bill is teaching Frank to sing alternative shred metal, or whatever he’s playing on the electric guitar. It all sounds like a 2-year-old screeching on the radio, too.
Maybe Frank will pull the plug ...

Interesting time zone you’re in!
I’ve got three sons, two cats, a dog, and a pack of lizards up, so far. I suppose I should go water the vegetable garden.

Wow. I'm just out here riding herd on an oil rig...
The garden has been well watered with all the rain we've had, I'm just wondering if the kids have been pulling any weeds in my absence.

It’s been 4 or 5 days since we had rain. Most of the plants are doing well, but I noticed some pepper plants looking sad when I was out spraying for bugs last night.
Does your employer expect the oil rig to wander far?

I'm my employer, but it is my job to keep them drilling in the right rock layer (and they
will wander far if you don't keep an eye on them...
Must be something about pepper plants. Mine were looking a mite scrawny at last glance. The tomatoes and spuds were going like gangbusters and the onions were doing well...

I see.
More sons have arisen, also their dad. I’m off to water the plants, with help from the catz, who are never happy. Have a good night!
