Is the toast customarily given with everyone sitting down? Does the band start playing “God Save the Queen” whenever she rises? What are all the protocols that should have been observed?

The Royal Navy blockade forced the Germans to sign the Armistice at the end of WW1. America had very little to do with it.
The Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force saved Britain in 1940, forcing Hitler to give up on Operation Seelowe. America wasn’t even in the war at the time. Germany never again came close to invading Britain.
