Like little kids, we all experience a happy rush, a delighted thrill, when going to play at an amusement park. Yet when an amusement park is abandoned and an eerie silence settles over the rusty and crusty decay, the setting seems to twist the atmosphere of enthusiastic excitement into a suffocating blanket of dread. The place takes on creepy vibes and freaks people out. In 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and ripped the heart of fun and the amusement out of this park. Almost six years later, Six Flags in New Orleans is unnaturally silent, no lines and no laughter. This 140-acre surreal setting has morphed into a nightmarish land of twisted dreams.

That was my thought. Zombie movie setting. Or a Fallout movie.

That “Cool Zone” photo looks fake. Like a cartoon.

This picture could be titled "Anytown USA in the 15th year of Sheik Obama's Reign"

There are a number of regular photos posted as well. I think a few of them the photographer used some photo software to ‘artsey’ them up but many are just regualr photos.

Make a good background/set for a survivalist vs zombie movie to be sure.

They were filming some movie there - it was featured in an episode of “Sons of Guns” on Discovery.

Creepy. Kind of like Astro World in Houston before it closed.
And like Six Flags in Dallas is becoming.

Six Flags. That was the muslims favorite reserved spot, wasn’t it? Burqas and turbans only.
So now it has an authentic muslim look to it.

Whenever I see a story like this I’m wondering who owns the property, are taxes still being paid on it and why is it allowed to sit so long in effect becoming an eyesore as well as someplace that will attract transients and vermin, eventually becoming a health/safety hazard.

Astroworld never reached this level of decay. Many of the signs/pieces of memorabilia were auctioned off. Then, the rest was bulldozed off and the land was cleared.
Perfect metaphor for the contrast between Houston and New Orleans. In tough times, Houston rolls up her sleeves and gets to work...while New Orleans sits and waits for help.

More than likely its cheaper to pay the fines than do the clean up !
These Six flags are becoming very dangerous gang recruitment centers .
The location is Dallas metro area is dangerous.
The crime stats at these places are eye opening.
