The crooks walked up to Kenneth Carter's tornado-damaged property with the purposeful air of relief workers in need of an all-terrain vehicle like the one he had parked out back.
"They said, `Excuse us, we've got to get this four-wheeler out of here,"' said the 74-year-old Apison resident. "I said, `I don't think so -- that four-wheeler belongs to me!"

>> Shoot on sight.
Low, with attention to the crotch and gut. Knees too.
If they’re still there the next morning, finish ‘em off with a shot to the head.
Then drag the body to the highway and drape it over a fence as a warning to the rest.
It would be interesting to know if this is still legal, perhaps under marital law? It would not be a bad thing if a few of these folks WERE actually shot dead. If would put an end to the looting rapidly.
I love that photo. Sent it to my cousins in England to give them an idea of why I am armed.
If it was not yours before the tornado or you do not have permission from the land owner, it’s looting.
Looters need to be shot.
Umm.... I have had arguments with my wife before, but I do love her and never felt like I wanted to shoot her.
In other news, a recent survey shows that at least 1,800 Alabamians are stump-toothed government-dependent morons devoid of any knowledge of economics.
Back in the late 1970’s, I lived in Santa Barbara when a wild fire raced through the foot hills. It was caused by a twenty-something guy who was flying a kite late one afternoon when the hot Santa Ana winds were blowing.
The guy’s kite got caught in power lines, the power lines arched, sparks came down on dry brush, and the fire began. When all was said and done, 200 expensive homes were destroyed.
A friend of my family lived in the foothills during that fire. He evacuated his elderly parents to a motel in the city, but he stayed behind to guard his home with a pistol strapped to his side. A carload of potential looters pulled into his driveway. My friend walked up to them and said, “Can I help you boys?” When the bad guys saw that my friend was armed, they took off and never came back.
The fire shifted direction and my friend’s home was saved, by the way.
Thanks - but I've had better time elsewhere.
Two week old articles don't belong in FP.
Yes, LCD TVs are definitely on the survival necessities list.
TW - Thanks for the photo!
It makes me proud to be an American.
BIG aka TLG
Survial scavengers do not need Flat Screen TV’s and someone else;s pills.
Looters need to be shot and left where they are with a sign around their neck.
Shoot, Sign, Silence.
Continual mass casualties.
“Two week old articles don’t belong in Front page”.
Apparently neither do articles less than 1 day old.
No more articles regarding looting in the south will be posted. I get the message.

Ah yes, I suppose the family court should be left out of this one. Martial law (I think) eliminates the need for all courts. In any case, I don’t suppose it would do much harm if local law enforcement shot a few looters here and there.
