I do.
We started at cross purposes when you burst onto the scene with your “get a grip” rant. That is poor form indeed and is not the opening gambit of a civil discourse.
I FReep a lot. I play the card I’m dealt, FRiend.
Yep. She will have to fight like HECK against the media, past and present. That has always been her enemy.
How much would it take to out-Alinsky all the people that are currently afraid to admit to their coworkers that they like her? If people are scared to death to be made fun of to put a Palin sticker on their car, she can’t win. Period. In these parts, a bleeping Obama sticker was de rigueur in 2008. People hate being mocked, as Alinsky so usefully noted.
What does Palin have to do to counteract that? I am sure there is something, and I don’t know what it is, but I sure hope Sarah does. I remember everyone said Ronald Reagan was an Idiot too, and he managed pretty well.
Yep.
fwiw me
Examine your premise
So, instead of staying on, running the state, and dealing with the issues head on, she bails out.
That's just it, don't you see? She couldn't run the state, because she and her staff were being overwhelmed with frivolous, nuisance lawsuits, each of which was purposely designed to stop her from doing her job, and to personally bankrupt her and her family.
What on earth would she have proven by continuing to stand there, essentially unarmed and without protection, taking bullet after bullet from her enemies?
Would you have rushed to her aid with your dollars and your voice, if she'd withered and fallen from those unceasing attacks? br> Would you have defended her honor as she collapsed from the sheer weight of the assault against her?
Would you have fought to see her re-instated if she'd been impeached for failure to do her job as Governor?
Sarah Palin ran for the office of Governor to help the people of her state. She didn't sign on to be thwarted from doing that job while tied up in courts and lawsuits, and she didn't sign on to allow her family to be crushed to death.
I'd be willing to bet that you never read her book, "Going Rogue". If you had, you would understand every detail of that episode in her life. Perhaps you'd understand it well enough to refrain from unfairly attacking her over her decision.
I guess what her fans think is a valid reason for quitting others like me find it a weak excuse that disqualifies her for the office of the president.
Why she quit is largely unimportant. Attacks and costs therein won’t go away as president. The point is she quit on the voters of Alaska which means she has a price, she can but pushed around, pushed to a breaking point. It’s a HUGE issue.
Me!
There is nobody better in the feeble assortment of candidates to this point.
So, yes, I want Palin in....if not Bachmann is my choice.
Aren’t you a breath of fresh air!
If you won’t take the GD time to educate your own sorry ass about the subject, at least stay home when it’s time to vote...
I’m sick of the unedumacated fools who think they know what’s going on but can’t take the freakin’ time to research the facts.
Junkie...probably.
newzjunkey, YOU SUCK!
Sort of in the same way that why John F Kennedy quit as President is largely unimportant. The overriding point is that he is a quitter.
No I would not have run to her defense.
But, based on her popularity and the dedication of her supporters I would have imagined should could have raised the cash.
On a secondary note, anyone putting themselves in a position where personal liability is possible should know enough (or have people around her that know enough) to move those assets into someone else’s name to avoid EXACTLY what you are writing about.
Those are the dirty little secrets of people in power. They have no “personal” wealth—at least none that can be attached. The people who write the laws know this. I imagine there was a Democratic lawyer somewhere laughing when he found out she had not protected herself.
I am not sure what I find more discomforting: The fact that she did not know how to do that, or the fact that she DID know, and figured she was above the risk. Or worse yet, was she aware and had she protected herself—but decided to bail assuming that the public would have no idea about the process and see her as a sympathetic character.
None of those options look good.
You still don't get it.
The frivolous lawsuits were filed against the Governor of Alaska (who just happened to be Sarah Palin at that time). They were so-called 'ethics complaints' that had to be answered in a court of law.
The state of Alaska has quirks in their law that forbid the usage of state funds or attorneys to defend a sitting governor against such lawsuits.
Sarah needed to retain legal council to fight these lawsuits, and the cost of that nearly destroyed her family to the tune of nearly half a million dollars.
There isn't any way to 'hide' your assets from legal bills.
If you'd taken the time to honestly inform yourself about this incident, you'd probably understand it well enough to save me the time of explaining something that most Freepers sorted out a long time ago.
You reveal yourself to be an uninformed Palin hater by pushing the debunked "quitter" meme.
Well, she only led the conservative tsunami that swept the country in the 2010 midterms, and helped get a ton of new Tea Party supported candidates elected to Congress.
She also helped correct the course of the Obama administration's policies several times, by writing op-ed articles pointing out their terrible flaws.
Other than that, not much.
All by her little lonesome?
Impressive!
Maybe you missed it. I said, "she helped..."
