I was just channel surfing and came across a show where a bunch of 25-35 somethings were talking about the royal wedding. They were particularly laughing at the part where everyone sang Guide Me Oh Thou Great Jehovah - maybe one of the most recognizable hymn tunes I can think of.

To them it was some mysterious "obscure" ritual song. And they projected this attitude on the audience saying nobody knows the words, look at Elton John trying to sing this thing. I watched the same scene and thought how nice all these diverse people were enjoying something they all held in common. Whether or not anyone of them believed what they were singing it's part of their common heritage.
So I just shake my head at the smirking, giggling conversation these TV people were having. And these are American. But it's like these people and I have NOTHING in common. It's like they came from some alien culture that grew up completely independently from the one I come from.
I’m not really even criticizing them. Just amazed at what a gulf there is between Americans. They have no roots, no heritage, nothing connecting them to the past.
Frustrating isn’t it D? You want to grab the young’ns by the scruff of their necks sometimes and...well, you know what I mean so I need go no more into it.
Given how well history is taught in government funded schools this should be no surprise.
Believe me, the sheeple do not think like normal humans
They live here but calling them Americans is a stretch. They have never been taught what it means and they don’t have a clue.
They have no idea what a rich heritage they’ve been robbed of.
Liberal elites thinking they’re being cool...gad, they are such a load.
It's not "were", it ought to be "was"! Sheesh!
It is because secularism speaks a totally different language and experience. It is the language of the self-sufficient, whom believe they have no need for the experience of Christ.
Just watch Jeopardy. It is horrific how little the generations know about their heritage.
I have a friend who is a prof in a state school.
She began to notice the lack of religious and cultural knowledge around 15 years ago. She said that she could at least count on the Catholics until about 7 years ago.
Now when she teachers her arts and philosopy classes she has to make sure that she teaches the basic tenents of christianity so the students can understand western art and western philosophy.

If you consider all the idiotic and useless comments people could possibly make. And then you consider the idiotic and useless comments that are broadcast on TV. It is the idiotic and useless people putting the idiotic and useless comments on TV that are the problem. Because at any time in history there were always idiotic and useless comments but now it is made sure that we hear them.
hiccups. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
You obviously grew up in church. Many don’t, and to them hymns are barely recognizable. I didn’t grow up in church myself, and as a result I have no ear for hymns. To be honest, when I do visit a church that sings traditional hymns, I tune them out. They’re really something you need to grow up with to appreciate.
If it wasn't last week's episode of Dancing With the Stars, it's meaningless and/or ancient history to them.
More and more we are all strangers to each other.
Who cares what these dummies think.
Look at our schools. Marxist indoctrination begins in preschool these days.
I, too, have seen this and more. Quite a sad state of affairs, no?
