Vanity: Why is FR shilling for Donald Trump? I thought this was a conservative site?
Self | April 28, 2011 | Self

Someone please explain. Name me one conservative principle he stands for and has stood for through the years. I get that people like seeing him slap around Obama and push the birther issue. But why make excuses for the fact that he's moderate to liberal? He's given lots of money to Democrats, called George Bush evil and said Nancy Pelosi should have impeached him. He's advocated for universal healthcare and supported a wealth tax. He's trashed Paul Ryan's budget and thinks slapping a tariff on China will solve our entitlement problems.

The guy is not a conservative. Why are so many on Free Republic shilling for him? Where was Trump during the 2010 election? Which tea party candidates did he support? The answer is zip zero nada. He gave money to Harry Reid not Sharron Angle. He gave money to Charlie Crist not Marco Rubio. But now the narrative is he's a tea party conservative bucking the Republican establishment? Oh please pass me a bucket. Do people not believe that a solid conservative can beat Obama? Do people here believe we need to run a moderate to beat Obama? Didn't we try that two years ago with John McCain? Aren't we trying to avoid that this year by not supporting Romney? Can anyone really say that Trump is more conservative than Romney?

Oh and before anyone asks who do YOU support, I love Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain. And I hope Paul Ryan changes his mind and decides to run. Also if Alan West or Marco Rubio decided to get in the game I could support either one of them too.

I don't take Trump seriously for president, but I am thoroughly enjoying his "Dirty Harry" approach to politics. He shows more of a spine than most of the other candidates, excluding Palin of course.

If he somehow becomes the repub candidate, would I vote for him? You bet your sweet FR bippy.

Exactly... rove is the republican elite and leadership... he has their ear and boehner worships him. you are correct... rove needs to go. A republican victory is no longer a Conservative victory... unless the winning candidate is a Conservative. You are dead on!

It will be interesting to watch how all of this plays out now - to see if this was choreographed with Trump and obama team for reality tv.

obama released this document, chastises Americans for this preoccupation with silliness instead of the important matters, and then jets off to appear on Oprah. Too strange. Outrageous reality tv type behavior.

Unfortunately these are the times we are living in. I don’t trust anything - Trump, the verity of the “released” birth certificate. My gut tells me this is all produced. If Trump accepts without verification this document, we are being played, again.

Watch this analysis of the graphics on these two “birth certificates” (released by obama and AP) and you will see why I would expect Trump to not accept this document without analysis. If Trump is done with it, I will know that this is a choreographed stunt.

I am not in the Republican party...

Jim Robinson does not like Romney... and that is good enough for me... aside from the other nonsense Romney rolls over on...

In fact, if the Republicans in the House don’t attach a complete Obamacare repeal to the debt ceiling legislation, they are finished...

I’m sick of the bullshiite in the District of Criminals. When you have supposed “conservative” icons like Coulter and Krauthmmer advocating we do nothing about Obamacare because “the time isn’t now” or some other silly rationale, I realize what a fraud they are...

Three issues... borders, language, culture...

I say no to faggot weddings, no to illegals, no to bailouts and no to public employee unions...

Trump is just a reflection on the state of the re-wimpican party. All the other Republican candidates are milquetoast.

The republican party elite are infected with cowardice and liberalism. Many like obama and want him to remain in power... and that is the truth. They see Conservatives as more of a threat than obama... do not doubt me on this.

I’d rather have a horrible republican to vote for, who has a spine, than have a “good” republican who doesn’t.

And if that horrible republican wins and then gets a chance to appoint Justices to the Supreme Court, then what? We're stuck with them for life and the entire nature of the court changes and with it the Constitution goes out the window.

These are incredible serious times, FRiend. That is why we are fighting so hard for Tea party, Constitutional Conservative candidates to win and win NOW and are not tolerating RINOs at all.

Better to go down fighting than to elect a RINO and lose anyway. That is the mantra of the Constitutional Conservative movement. Is that where you stand?

It’s simple.

We are desperate for someone in the GOP to show some guts, and The Donald has big brass ones.

No, that’s not necessarily a good reason to support a candidate, but he’s stepping into a vacuum the size of Texas. The only other members of the GOP who have shown any guts are Palin and Bachmann, and the GOP hates them for it.

Trumps not gonna run for president. He is just making noise and lighting the GOP fire. He is in a position to do things that candidates won’t/can’t do.

i thought that was obvious?

Someone on the radio said he would vote for a bag of potato chips before he'd vote for trump. That means he'd vote for the messiah. This scares the ____t out of me. How many middle of the roaders will pull out the red carpet for obammmma just to spite trump. Trump won't get the Republican nomination and the press will continue to bash him like they continue to do to Gov.Palin, but he may go rouge and start a third party which will almost assure a second term for the empty suit. This leads me to lean toward the thought that the media is attacking Trump's ego and almost daring him to run as an independent.

STOP already. Who do you think you are going around 'acting concerned'? Either enjoy the show or leave the theater - we are adults here and don't take kindly to MSM tactics.

Drop the about Conservatives excusing away his liberalism, or worse portraying him as a conservative.. If you see that, I'll say you have an agenda here. And guess what - that's not conservative - no one needs you going around correcting, warning on what 'you think'.

While not supporting Trump, I generally like him from a business perspective. He’s a successful person and born leader. I think the appeal is simple, our movement is highly suspicious of the RNC establishment and the tentative candidates afraid to take a stand. When someone steps forward and takes our position and can go around the media to get things done, that is very appealing. I am sure most than not on FR either do not like Trump, or like me are enjoying what he is doing, but not getting behind his candidacy. Those jumping on the bandwagon are the ones easily swayed...they got behind Scott Brown, and then Brewer, and anyone who does one really good thing.

It’s not even that...

We have to defund the Left and

1. remove all of the entrenched socialists in the public employee unions

2. remove all of the entrenched socialists in the U.S. State Department

3. remove all of the entrenched socialists in the courts

4. remove all of the entrenched socialists in the financial system

Pay attention to what is happening right now in the European Union... and the epic failure there...
