Vanity: Why is FR shilling for Donald Trump? I thought this was a conservative site?

Someone please explain. Name me one conservative principle he stands for and has stood for through the years. I get that people like seeing him slap around Obama and push the birther issue. But why make excuses for the fact that he's moderate to liberal? He's given lots of money to Democrats, called George Bush evil and said Nancy Pelosi should have impeached him. He's advocated for universal healthcare and supported a wealth tax. He's trashed Paul Ryan's budget and thinks slapping a tariff on China will solve our entitlement problems.

The guy is not a conservative. Why are so many on Free Republic shilling for him? Where was Trump during the 2010 election? Which tea party candidates did he support? The answer is zip zero nada. He gave money to Harry Reid not Sharron Angle. He gave money to Charlie Crist not Marco Rubio. But now the narrative is he's a tea party conservative bucking the Republican establishment? Oh please pass me a bucket. Do people not believe that a solid conservative can beat Obama? Do people here believe we need to run a moderate to beat Obama? Didn't we try that two years ago with John McCain? Aren't we trying to avoid that this year by not supporting Romney? Can anyone really say that Trump is more conservative than Romney?

Oh and before anyone asks who do YOU support, I love Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain. And I hope Paul Ryan changes his mind and decides to run. Also if Alan West or Marco Rubio decided to get in the game I could support either one of them too.

No shilling here, mostly amused by the political theater. But there are two words that could make Trump to me a serious candidate: “Obama” and “Biden”

The only reason why anyone is cheerleading Trump is because he’s doing what they wish the spineless Republicans would do- boldly take on Obama.

Personally I can’t stand Trump - I think he’s a self-serving, egotistical jerk and I wouldn’t vote for him if he were the only candidate in the field, but I do relish the times when he pounds Obama.

I appreciate your frustration. I agree with your assessment of Con-man liberal Trump.

In the short term Con-man liberal Trump is causing Obama and liberals some grief by launching all these personal attacks with gas prices and unemployment in the background, while Republicans stand by and watch. I must admit that Trump is causing Obama some headaches in the short term. But I still dont trust him.

The talking points are;

a)an OCR program was used making it layered.
b) if you don’t accept it and dare to examine you’re racist (SEE WHOOPI)

If Trump can teach the R’s how to fight, then this is a good thing. Palin and Bachmann are good, Trump has the ego needed to tand up to the MSM. IMO Trump will not be the R candidate, but if he is then the R’s only have themselves to blame. Nobody defends Palin, Trump needs no defense, that is the difference.

Sorry I’ll decide for myself whether I want to enjoy the Trump show or not.  And no I won’t stop pointing out that he’s not a conservative and that conservatives should stop making excuses for him.

And that’s why I support Bachmann. At least she’s got conservative credentials to go with her cajones.

Hell, why did it shill for George W. Bush, for that matter.

“These are incredible serious times, FRiend. That is why we are fighting so hard for Tea party, Constitutional Conservative candidates to win and win NOW and are not tolerating RINOs at all.

Better to go down fighting than to elect a RINO and lose anyway. That is the mantra of the Constitutional Conservative movement. Is that where you stand?”

No one is a bigger backer of the Tea Party than I am. My first vote was for Reagan and I’ve never felt good about my choices of candidates since that vote. The GOP lost me for good when McCain got the nomination.

If the GOP holds the line with the debt limit vote, I would probably vote for their nominee in ‘12, but if they cave, which they will, I will probably not support any GOP candidate in the primaries and will vote third party.

The GOP has one chance of returning to their values, and it’s now. If they blow it this time, I pray the Tea Party bolts, starts a third party, and to hell with the GOP, and if that means the dems stay in power forever, so be it, this country won’t last anyway.

Your actions are like that of a lib - ‘you know’ and everyone else is dumb. Like I said, conservatives don’t like MSM tactics. You don’t get a conservative label acting like a liberal. IMO, your actions are suspect.

I think it’s very unfair that those who question Trump’s conservatism are branded GOP establishment or worse Obama supporters. I saw a post on the American Thinker website that lumped Trump in with the tea party. When did Donald Trump ever support the tea party?

I don’t think a majority of FR is. It seems there is just a handful who are very vocal, many came around during the last election and may have been some of the PUMAs.

When you hope for change, you will fall for any clown.

I never saw a more gutless, spineless party than the GOP.

They even elected a cry baby to be Speaker.

My actions are suspect because I haven’t jumped on the Donald Trump bandwagon? Explain to me what makes him a conservative?

Well I was never a fan of George W. Bush but at least he gave us two great Supreme Court justices. I’d love to know who Donald Trump would appoint to the Supreme Court. Let’s not forget he recently said that there is a right privacy in the Constitution.

I believe that a LOT of people believe exactly as you do. I do to. When Boehner turned out to have lied to us about the last budget cut resolution my stomach sank and I just wondered if the GOP had just committed suicide.

How many people had just decided to vote third party after all that build up just to be told that we had been lied to about what the real cost savings would be? Boehner is a worthless negotiator and now appears to be a bullsh*tter. That won’t fly in these important days.

We will have to see what, if anything, actually gets accomplished between now and the primaries, then the elections. And if Boehner is re-elected Speaker then the GOP is lost.

Since a third party takes years to get off the ground we might as well start as soon as the writing is on the wall. It’s not there yet but it will be there soon. The clock is ticking.

“....But have conservative set the bar that low?”

FR IS a Conservative site yes, but it doesn’t mean the participants are all Conservatives.

I have believed for quite sometime now that there are some participants at FR that lurk behind false Conservative credentials. Just like the RINO’s of the GOP in attempting to redefine Conservatism to their moderate/Leftist perspective.

I wouldn’t, and don’t put this Trump crap in the perspective of a Conservative movement, but more along the lines of agitators, and gullible’s.

I see only a few FReepers actually supporting him but any Conservative that thinks that Trump's attacks on obama are hurting us... should stop listening to karl rove or those little voices in their heads. I am sick of people defending obama through the proxy of attacking Trump. Rush said yesterday that Trump is NOT going to run... Rush talks with him... Rush also denied endorsing him in any way... all Rush said was “I have ways on which to base my opinion”. Relax... enjoy the butt kicking obama is receiving... when Trump is gone... the attacks will be gone... unless Palin runs... if not... mccain II ("I will not question my opponents "fill in the blank")... or whomever the party elite pick for republicans. I will vote for a Conservative only... "r" or no "r"... THAT is a promise... not a threat. I am not alone... I have another party... THE TEA PARTY! republicans had better get on board. Ask yourself this... what have any elected republicans anywhere in the US said or done to confront obama while Trump has been doing the heavy lifting??? Palin has issued a few written responses but the rest are cowards...

This.
